Hello friends,
To match my Canadian collection, I've taken on my BISON. It's a Canadian APC based on the LAV Piranha. There were various models from ESCI around 1990. And I've also converted a few. I built this one in 1990 as a waterline model. I never really liked it. Years later, I was able to buy an unpainted Piranha at a model show, I wanted to use it for something else. A 5-axle vehicle was still a dream. A few days ago, I had the idea of making 1 out of 2. It wasn't a problem, only half of the tailgate had to be replaced. I'll paint it later. Five axles sounds good  After all, the U.S. did design a 10x10 amphibious APC.
-
That ESCI MOWAG Piranha/LAV-25 series of models was always a good subject to study. So many versions, so many wheel combinations.

Nice! There's supposed to be a Bison kit (I saw the CAD), but other releases are jumping ahead of it.
10x10 for the win!

I remembered that I had a picture of a BISON kit on my PC. Now I've found it. I didn't take a photo of it myself, I found it and saved it. It was around the beginning of 2008. I don't know which manufacturer it is.

Interesting. But, yes, the manufacturer is a poser.
At first glance I wondered if it might be the Mouse House ASLAV APC conversion. But the kit in your photo looks like the entire upper hull was moulded in resin. Plus, the Bison add-on armour panels are in place on the nose. Hmm ...

I *think* that was Best Value Models, aka BVM. They did a Canadian M113 TLAV around 2008 as well.

Hello,
I took these pictures at the "Intermodellbau, Dortmund, Germany" in 2008. Only the 3-axle vehicles were visible. And on "Scalemates" you can only find references to the 3 3-axle

Unfortunately for me, I started collecting too early

That Canadian M113A3 TLAV looks really good. I have been wanting to do one myself.

In Didi's Intermodellbau shots, it looks like the Husky is using its Hiab to extricate the driver from the Grizzly.

Indeed it does. The Soucy CRT and drive sprocket look especially nice

Looking at those makes me wonder about an articulated 10 x 10 vehicle using a standard 6 x 6 version attached to a 4 x 4 constructed from the rear part.

Or reverse that arrangement for an articulated 10x10? So, the forward 4x4 component houses the vehicle crew and engine/transmission. The rear 6x6 component is effectively empty - for use by dismounts or for armament or honkin' huge radar system, etc.

Definitely BVM, they were somehow affiliated with Azimut. I would guess that Trumpeters Grizzly / Cougar / Husky, early and late, probably gave them second thoughts about going on with the Bison.
Incidentally, there will be a kit of the ACSV - big brother to Bison - coming out.

Good kit-detective work, Graeme

I'm guessing that the first kit offering will be of the ACSV TCV?

Yes I believe it is the only one in styrene. The same company will be doing a LAV-6, though I am not sure of the release order.

Hello friends. Now it's finished. I didn't build it as high quality as I would today. I customized it in my 90s style.

I do love the Cadillac-Gage 1-Metre Turret. I have the Grizzly here and before I build it I'm going to carefully measure the turret so I can scratch-build more.
-
^ Careful - the Trumpeter 1m turret got some of the angles upside down. Trackjam models was working on a 3D printed replacement.
-
Cool, I might put it on the backburner.
