Title: (1/35th) "The Graveyard of Elephants" / "makaburi ya tembo"
Post by: Story on February 14, 2024, 11:42:16 PM
W.I.P. thread - Original inspiration from somewhere between Kris Kuksi's vertical artwork and this scene from the HEAVY METAL movie.

As such, this is a junk box 'five minutes into the future' build with a macabre statement or, to paraphrase Murray Head,

It's Namibia,
or the Sudan,
or Tripoli
Or, or this place

1) The core is just an expansion of this T-54 project, which I'd done some more work on since last I posted on it.

Added some vegetation (HO railroad lichen) and an AUROA vacuum formed base.
Much as I'd like to use it, I'm going to have to rethink something larger for all the elements I want to use.  ???

For purposes of this display, I'm calling this part done.

2) Includes PFJN's graciously donated junked pseudo-Chinese turret

3) Will also include something along these lines

4) Generic WW2 American jeep that's been kicked around. Someone else's build (TAMIYA?) that was in a pile of salvage and seemed to take one step forward as to volunteer as filler.

For purposes of this display, I'm calling this part done.

5) Unrecognizable T-series front chunk.

A leftover from this project, which was abandoned-not-worn out or destroyed.

Looks like it's going to be a long wait but worth the effort.

When I was in Iraq in 2003 I remember some wrecked T something or other tanks bulldozed up into pile. Between being burned out and lots of dirt I couldn’t tell what the junk started out as.

The half dozen knocked out T72s were still at the intersections SE of BIAP in 08-09.

Thank you. We should start a thread on "Longest Lag Time To Finish A Project".  Winner gets a cookie. Or something.

I'll easily win that one.  I've got several projects still on the go for 30+ years :o

 ;D

I'm noodling that the setting for this mess should be a large picture frame, possibly deep enough that it can have a glass/plexiglass cover.
