Hi guys
Long time no see (or post, in this case :))
This time to present the 3rd part of my P-38 trilogy. After the "Land" and "Sea", obviously this one had to be "Air".
In this particular case, the PX-38VG, known as the Stubby Stork, an experimental plane that tried to incorporate several innovative technologies,
being one of the few examples of the variable geometry concept (hence the VG)
And since I have already used both fuselages of the original P-38 donor kit, there was only the main body and wings left.
And that's what I used :)

A perfectly ordinary cockpit...

But the rest is not! A revolucionary design long forgotten...

If everything goes as planned, this will be the final layout...

Now you know how the russians got the idea for the Berkut.... :icon_punal:
To be continued...
Thanks for watching!

The designers at Lockheed are spinning in graves like a lathe!!!!!! :o ;D
Awesome ideas completed just from one P-38 kit! I love it!

Looking good.

Oh, that is fabulous! Excellent concept

That's most innovative and cute as a button!

Antonio, I admire all your "crazy" or "normal" designs in the same way!
I love the third option (with or without adjustable wings) and somehow I see it eventually as a pusher. If the original gun nose remains and still can offer a huge firepower, the engine could be moved to the rear and can receive a multiblade propeller resp. 2 x 3- or 4-blade propellers (I always prefer the latter). Longer main wheel legs will help as well.
This aircraft looks so dieselpunkish to me (or if you prefer "Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow"-ish ). A real pleasure for my eyes!
Muito obrigado!

What a great design idea! It has a vaguely Russian look and it also a bit like the Nausicaä - Gunship (https://modelingmadness.com/scott/misc/scifi/nausica.htm).

Your knowledge of these esoteric kits never fails to astonish me, Frank.

That's a beauty!! Looks like something out of one of the better anime or manga works.

Hi guys
Thanks for the king words!
It was indeed a fun build, with a fair amount of non-sense, as usual ;)
Please find below the usual testimonial final photos.

Perfect crossbreed of real and whimsical. Love it :-*
Deserves to be in a movie.
-
What finsrin said. It really looks like something that belongs in Sky Captain II if such ever came to fruition.
-
One of your best yet!
It's like if a P-38 egg plane was real.
Great stuff.

What a beautiful result! Brian is right - a "real life" egg plane!
-
I've said this before, some of the work on this site crosses over from "whiff" to art! This is a prime example.

I agree with everyone above! :icon_alabanza: :icon_alabanza: :icon_alabanza: ;D ;D ;D
