While visiting stash spotted another C-47 based build concept.  Checked parts compatibility and building is now progressing in parallel with C-47F (former DC-3F).
C-47H was late WW2 re-winging to carry heavier loads in a C-47.  "H" is for Heavy.  Easier build than C-47F.  Remains tail dragger.
Attached picture of kits involved.  More soon.

Moving along with build.  Some parts glued some fitted for photo.  More to do.
Looks rather "normal" to me and related to Boeing 307.  Probably works for Allies '46 GB
Leaning to painting 1950s MATS to go with C-47F painted same on flight line.
Include OOB C-47 in 1950s MATS scheme too ?

Wow I'd have never thought B-17 wings would fit so well on a C-47!

Looks very powerful indeed!

might need to enlarge the rudder appendage a bit to accommodate that larger wing and extra engines.  Looks great as is but the little voices in my head are advising me to suggest the larger tail.  :P

 "Interesting" -- Yes is interesting what polystyrene possibilities mixing fuselages/engines/wings are lurking in stash boxes.  Seen plenty examples at BTS over the years.
Cool to me too sitting here on work table (make that top of printer).  In a C-47 sense exudes power and lift.  Perfect for transporting discovered German gold bar stashes beyond reach of Red Army during 1945.  Does give me FW-200 flashes.  Actually,,, can be fitted with B-17 tail surfaces !

After various distractions.  1/1 cars and such.  Have some building time.
Like other's progress pictures (see whatz involved), so here are mine before primer covers it.
> Filled in trailing 1/2 inch of wing root with clipping off same part of B-17 fuselage.  Giving continuous wing to fuselage flow as on both B-17 and C-47.
> Top of wing is good match to fuselage, no issues.  Bottom of wing is much deeper than C-47 wing.  Cut between wings section out of donor kit.  With bit of filing fits well to match curve of B-17 wings looking near normal for C-47.  Filling with putty and filing to smooth it out.

After wing join is finished the rest of build is OOB type assembly.

Attached underside picture and where rear of wing root was removed from B-17.

The wings look like they mate up very nicely with the fuselage.

Thanks for enthusiasm for the "H".
After down time from a yukky cold with prescription drug help am getting back to this build.
Seen it enough that looks normal OOB-ish.  Going with MATS 1950s inspired scheme.  WW2 origins serving into 50s & 60s.

Enough progress for photos.  Past the half way point.  Obviously more to do. 
Props placed in engines and engines placed on wings.  No Glue.  Thinking gloss black for prop hubs.
Will use this variation on MATS scheme for some other cargo builds.

Just realized...

It's obviously intended to carry cargo that's heavy but not particularly bulky, because the fuselage is not any larger.

It's the 1950's, the Atomic Age.

The C-47H is obviously a dedicated nuclear material carrier, hauling test and live warheads, reactor components, enriched uranium, and so on.

Thatz a good point.  So perceptive.  Most interesting.  I don't know, I was not there.  Just building model based on sketchy information available.  NEVER was officially confirmed version of C-47.  An original use (cover story?) was flying out stashes of German gold bars.  This follows as post war plutonium/uranium/led hauler.  Four engine reliability important for that.  Can see them flying atomic cannon warheads in Europe too.
