RP1's Physical Models (Planes). Mostly LEGO, mostly.
« on: February 25, 2015, 07:40:45 PM »
Hello everybody!

So back in the heady days of the 1980's and 90's I used to make physical models. This Christmas I had a clear out of some old boxes and found a few interesting projects - most of which had not survived storage. This one did well enough to take a photo. A Draken converted into a spaceplane using the SLBM from the Red October kit and decals from the USCMC Drop Ship kit:

Something more recent, I grabbed all my LEGO and started to have a build...

A ski-equipped reconnaissance machine:

Which got rebuilt into a cargo-pod equipped Ekranoplan:

Different Draken, nicely done 8)

What does "physical" models mean, I thought our hobby was physical .......... we hold it in our hands to assemble, paint etc to get a finished product.

It could also mean computer modelling. Maybe the author is a 3D modeller in his spare time  :)
2 Reasons why a model is better than a wife:
1) A model doesn't get jealous when you look at another model
2) A model doesn't yell at you for spending money on another model

Wonderful twin-boomer of a shape I have never seen anywhere! :-* I will try to draw a P-38 Lightning derivative inspired by this, mentionning your name as the author of this idea, thanks and congratulations!

And here the Lockheed RP1-38A Skining, a surprising 2-seat (side by side) pusher:

It is quite obvious if you look at the descriptions on the front page of the forum:

* Physical Models - In other words, models you can physically pick up and touch.

* Profiles and Pixels - Non-physical creations

* Stories - Written creations

As has also been stated previously, we also recognise that modeling comes in many different forms.  Some people model in plastic, whilst others model in pixels. All forms should be respected equally, just as all people’s abilities should be respected equally.  Moreover, the differing inputs of all members are complimentary.

I really like Lego builds. I had a nice box of them when I was a boy which entertained me to no end.

Of course your creations are far more imaginative, RP1, especially that wicked Ekranoplan!
