Title: M4A2 and Type 94 tankette
Post by: Camthalion on July 04, 2017, 07:10:06 PM
The newest one on the bench.  Dragon M4A2 with Value Gear and Resi Cast add ons with Finemold type 94.  Fair bit to go yet.

Slightly different perspective, in case you didn't have it already.

yeah I have that one, thank you anyway.  I was originally hoping to make it more like that photo, but finding suitable crew figures is proving difficult.

Yeah, almost all the armoured vehicle crews available are for Europe or North Africa. The SEA/Pacific theatre is pretty much off the AFV-figures radar, with the exception of some Japanese (&, maybe, some resin sets).

This MasterBox set gives you one figure that would be suitable:

You may be able to modify this Alpine Miniatures 1/35 WWII US Tank Crew #2 resin figure:

This MiniArt set gives you one or two figures you may be able to convert:

Overall, though, the cost may out-weigh the desire.

Thanks wombat.  I forgot that mixed box set, I have them somewhere, I've only made the Australian so far.  Have to try and dig the Yank up.  I thought of trying to get some marines at rest and using Hornet tank crew heads though even that is not easy and as you say the cost rises quickly.

The two on the right (C & E) look useable as-is, with the one on the lower left (D) just requiring a pair of legs wearing shorts and ankle boots. Got any 8th Army/DAK lower bodies lying around?

For what it's worth, from a modeler who did his own interpretation of this moment in time - Captain (later Major) Robert Nieman wrote the best memoir we have on Marine armor in the Pacific. He talks about Gunny Bruno [ D Company 4th Tanks] and this tank in detail. He also witnessed them hitting the mine. It was D Company that first started using wood appliqué armor.

That's a really neat combination. There's something about that tankette that's very appealing!

Wow what a fantastic finish!

You sir, are a veritable armor factory. Makes GM look like pikers.

Most excellent!

That is extremely cool! It's just amazing how really tiny the Type 94 is.
