INCIDENT / Frontier Airlines flight #F9260 from Vegas to Tampa suffered serious engine cowling damage this morning. The Airbus A320 (N227FR) safely returned to Las Vegas shortly after takeoff. All passengers got a free breakfast voucher. And a clean pair of underwear.

The RAAF's P-3's had their retirement fly past over Adelaide & surrounds on Friday. I saw two V's of three aircraft &, given the time between them, I'm fairly sure it was 6 aircraft.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me.

Don't worry, the RAAF did:

Nice to see, thanks! The 'plain jane' CH-124s seemed to be squeezing in a few extra hours lately (saw one flying low along the Sunshine Coast. It was a bit of a reminder of how much quieter the 'Sea Thing' is compared with the new Cyclones.

Actually, a recent overflight by a CH-149 reinforced that impression. So, Canada now has a steathily-quiet SAR chopper and a growly-noisy ASW helicopter in service  ???

It probably would help if the CH-149 had more than four rotor blades and could run at a lower rpm while maintaining the same solidity factor.

Evan    Shuuush!    it's taken nearly 20 years for the RCAF just to get the nine "pre-production" CH-148's that have been delivered, don't give the Government any new ideas ---  :P

Via Facebook.

De Havilland Canada CS2F Trackers were converted to aerial tankers for use as chemical or water bombers by the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests in the early 70’s. All were former RCN aircraft that became surplus after the ‘Bonaventure’ was scrapped.

S-2 presents well in that scheme.
Our P-2 flight line was shared with S-2, C-54, C-119.  Some might have come from there.

Back in 2001 or 2002, I had gone to the Abbotsford Airshow for the weekend. Just off to the left of the RV parking area we were in, was a fenced off compound which had about 20 or 25 Trackers parked in it. Some were parked with the wings folded and others had the wings removed. I asked a airshow volunteer why they were there and was told they were going to be converted into water/fire bombers. Looking at a satellite view of the airfield now, I see that the compound (and aircraft) have gone.

 ;D ;D ;D

And, of course, it depends upon how you're counting ... DND's original Sea King Replacement (SKR) Project began in 1977; the New Shipboard Aircraft (NSA) Project in 1985; becoming the combined NSA/New SAR Helicopter Project in 1991; and, finally, the Maritime Helicopter Project (MHP)  first mooted in 1994 with Project approval in November 2004. Next step: FOC in 2025. Whoo, no flies on those guys!!

Would be a tad safer as a pusher prop, but still a fall with either runs the risk of being chopped up.  That definitely fits that file title.

Comment from a friend - "Look at laid back Unterfeldwebel Poorly Camouflaged of the Bergfliegerkorps. He's not worried about being diced up by a Rotax-powered mixmaster, so why should you?"

I have enough Tamiya bits and pieces to cobble this up in 1:35th scale. Only thing I'd need is a 1:144th Stuka nose or somesuch.

Are there snow covered regions in Afghanistan or Pakistan? We could manufacture those and issue them to the Taliban.
