Wounded Old Soldiers
« on: November 09, 2012, 03:35:51 AM »
So I went to the IPMS nationals in Phoenix a couple o years ago and somehow left a box o models :-X :-\
They were shipped back to me... in chunks ???
They all pretty much looked like this

I was very sad and depressed to see so much of my art destoyed. I just put the whole box on a high shelf and tried to forget it.
It sat there and looked sad and I was sad everytime I opened the site cause one of the dead was this

The very craft you see in the banner which was initially drawn by our Illustrious Leader GTX.
So the other day I got nostalgic and creative at the same time so decided to see just how many wounded soldiers I could put back together.
You may have seen these in the past but I am happy to post these again as they are resurected :)

One of my oldest existing Whiffs (15 years)
P-55 F

CAC/Brewster Super Buffalo

RoT Rattlesnake

The RoT's first monoplane

I don't remember what I called this but I remember why it exists. I could not attend a show once so Scooterman and Roger the Cabin Boy came and got some of my stuff for the whiff table and got me a Malcolm hood 'stang and a 5 blade Spit... oh yeah... Spitstang ;)

Oh, the Humanity !! :o

Good to see them back from the maintenance shed :)

That P-55-F looks right neat !!

One day I may do the same with my armour treasures that were crushed under furniture by the moving-men :icon_crap:

I still love the P-55F!

The RoT's first monoplane

What is that one called?  It looks like a jackrabbit with that tail.

Cheers,

Logan

Thanks bubba :) That build was before in progress pics but if you see a pic of the original Ascender (ass ender?) you will quickly pic up the major mods.  Bigger control surfaces, better cockpit canopy, superturbocharged 16 cylinder engine ;) >:D
Logan thanks. I am embarrassed to admit I don't remember what I called that one. I'll definitely go with Jackrabbit considering her Texican roots :)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking since it was RoT.  I'm not totally sold on the P-55's chines, but I really like a lot of the rest that you've done with it!

Cheers,

Logan

Jackrabbit works- but maybe Jackelope might be better-it is horned, after all. Great stuff all, and
I'm glad to see you were able to get 'em back in shape.

Well the original was known for flipping over on her back and being unrecoverable. I really wanted to give her more horizontal stability. I made the verticals and the canards bigger so she could steer better but I wanted a lower landing speed and more airfoil so the lifting body type strakes seemed a good idea. :)
That's my story ;D
Jackelope is great Doc ;) I think I'll use that for another project :)

I understand, I was speaking from a purely aesthetic perspective.

Really jazzed by that P-55 Ascender variant. Shinden, bring it on!

Great builds on all!
