Matchbox PK-81 Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf.G
« on: July 14, 2017, 02:46:05 PM »
It's been a long time since I've posted here, I'm in the middle of dealing with Photobucket's decision to charge for third party hosting ($500.00+AUD!! :o) a year and moving my photos to Flickr. I also could not log on to BTS after a computer fail that forced a full system reboot after a week of saving things to a harddrive and reloading what needed ::) ::)

Although not a WHIFF I've completed this rebuild of one of the few models I have that 'Trackheads' can relate to. ;)

Matchbox PK-81 Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf.G '375', 10th Pz.Div. 14th Pz. Korps, Russia summer 1941. First built during 1978, damaged during the 1980's and stored 'till 19Mar2017 when I commenced a rebuild thread here;  http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=181&t=50658   ,finishing it 11Jun2017.
Tried a lot of techniques I had learnt about with varying degrees of success, didn't come out quite the way I had envisioned the finished product, but finished it is :)

Hey, Bro, good to see you back! :D

I was getting worried! Almost to the email followed by phone call point. :icon_crap:

And you're back with a neat little piece of treadhead stuff! .... You sure you're all right? ???

Thanks for the comment Wombat  :)
Thought you would've recognised this from my bookshelf in the dark dim past, try the ATF link ;)
Got quite a few "things with wheels an' tracks" to do (and repair/rebuild) in various scales, so I needed a "test" subject to try techniques on, glad you liked it :) :)
Personal note, it's not been a good year :(

That is not a very large vehicle in 1:35th scale so I can appreciate the work you put in to the same subject in 1:72nd scale.  Looking good! :)

Thankyou for the comment Jeffery :) no she's not very big at all (1/72 - 1/76 are my preference) but it was as much fun as the larger scales :-*

On Saturday 07Sep2019 I attended the Sydney Scale Model Show and for the first time in thirty years I entered some of my models.
This little Panzer II was entered into Small Scale Military Vehicles (1/61 scale and below) and was judged purely on the tank with the Matchbox display base ignored as per the class rules.
On the table,

A close to prove the small coloured blob is indeed my Panzer II,

The results were the BM-15 with "Stalin Organ" won Gold,

The T-28 was second,

And my Panzer II won Third  8)

Just to make sure I did place here's the Panzer II at home with her certificate,

So I actually placed in the two classes I had entered, what an official return to the hobby  8) 8)

So a first for the Focke, and still a rank for the tank! Nice work - and the base IS terrific, by the way.

Thank you very much gentlemen for that.

Brian and Dr. YoKai I'm glad you like the supplied Matchbox dio as well as my Panzer, I had fun changing the dio from North Africa to Russia  ;)

Yes Wombat I thought we'd already established I do stray into "wheelie/tracky things" . . . . . maybe when unwell  ;D

And you coulda knocked meself over with a feather at winning anything at all fella, I had hopes for my abilities but that was just . . . gobsmacking, surprising, REALLY???.

I've been talked into joining the APMA here in Sydney (gotta save for it) and strongarmed into attending the Canberra Model show 09-10Nov2019 by some of their members :-[

So now I'm up against a deadline with three new builds, one not even started yet  ::) I'll also be taking the Fw, Panzer II, maybe another piece of armour, a floaty thing and maybe even the "Sorta Stang"

31degC today in Sydney, hmmmm, thirsty  . . . . . .
Cheers and regards gents  :icon_beer: :icon_beer: :icon_beer:
