Title: RW request....N. American defenses, Cold War
Post by: Daryl J. on October 06, 2013, 04:35:34 AM
Two of the kits on the docket for the up and coming building season are a Javelin with Sparrows and a Sea Vixen with AIM-54s both in Canadian service.    I'd like to concoct a story based partly in fact.

The real world question:  where do I start finding references to detection of incoming Soviet aircraft  for Alaska and Canada?    And if possible, including likely routes of entry.

The Norwegian Javelin will be it's own can of beans. (or is that a jar of pickled herring???)

Thanks kindly.

This might help:  http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/airdef/overview.htm (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/airdef/overview.htm)

I believe the routes would have been mainly via the North, much like this:
