Space-Lightning
« on: February 19, 2014, 01:51:11 AM »
When I saw this group subject, I thought I will not participate alas :icon_sueno: , as I love only aircraft. BUT I changed my mind: I could transform an earth plane into a spacecraft, like this Mars-based Lightning: :-\ ???

lovely!

and probably quite do-able with a bit of kit bashing ...

Nicely done! :)

A lot of movie space fighters seem to have long noses, more so than aeroplanes, which is odd when you think about it. it's as though they take some inspiration from drag cars as well as jet fighters. Maybe you could have pods that extend forwards from the Lightning's wing to get the same effect? They could be conical, like Soyuz boosters.

What about a Lightning for Mercury? Without atmosphere there would be no drag, even for a cubic shape. And the energy source is solar obviously (for an unknown propulsion system, called "thermo-photoplasma-ionic")...

the invention of the cubic airplane!

You dare pretending the glorious Moon mission Apollo-2014 was a fake filmed on the Salty Lake at night??? Lord, your JC-38 roller and orbiters (JC-38R, JC-38 O, JC-38 O²) will never receive a single federal $ anymore!

I forgot to explain the colours:
- they are selected by my son who has never visited inter-galactic area
- like houses in Sweden snow, in outer space there is a lack of bright colours so the spacecraft wear flashing colours
- this is a tribute to our friend Ericr models and this spacecraft is named Ericraft...

Heh!  :)

Suggestions:

B-Wing Lightning : pod, one inner wing, engine/boom, one outer wing, weapon pod under wingtip.

Lightning space station with artificial gravity: replace the ball with a torus, then have two identical, asymetric Lightnings attached to the rim facing in the same direction of rotation, so that they can spin it with their engines
