Somebody posted photos from a place where I was almost 30 years ago.

Late 1990s maybe: some reservists on Government temp jobs making sure they can run a mortar. They say that the 4th round went through the hatch of the wrecked Sisu APC. Distance was only about 400 meters, apparently.

Google maps shows that some roads and a restaurant have been built in the target area: https://goo.gl/maps/UaWbiatBnnkfco8g7

Reduced air traffic at major airports allows for some not-so-standard visitors.

The Boeing Stratocruiser had plenty of room for the pilots to stretch out while they gazed through 15+ large windows.

Nice photo of the airport.

I've kept in touch with a friend or two at YYC, and catching up on news with one yesterday, he told me the airport has just about no movements anywhere, the terminal is completely shut down except for the occasional out of country arrivals. The contractors out & about around the airfield are still active at the moment but he didn't know for how much longer.

Performed a wing wave as they lifted off and then took a small detour south for a view of downtown Toronto. Hope we see the #QueenOfTheSkies one more time on Friday before they are said to retire from the fleet.

You can do right-mouse-button click (Windows) on the image and "Open image in new tab" feature and see if that allows you to see it.

Exhibition of the Boeing 2707-100 OSH model around 1966!

Text: That Class One mockup was completed in September, 1966 per Boeing's SST contract FA-SS-66-5. Boeing went over budget on its Phase 2C mockup which cost nearly $2 million. The B-2707 did not exist before May, 1966. All Boeing variable-sweep SSTs were non-airworthy; all failed in wind tunnel tests. The B2707-100 mockup was destroyed in 1968.

@Jon: Is the text correct?

Via Facebook. Not my text.

Here is an interesting photo of RCAF Cosmo 11156. There are a few things that make it interesting. First this is an earlier version of the aircraft with the old Naiper Eland engines. The Cosmos, that were kept, were re-engined to a version of the T-56 engine (501-D36), similar to the engines on the Herc and Aurora today.

In the background I can see a Caribou, a Dak, an Otter on floats and a Labrador.

From a Cosmo pilot:

I've got a 1/72 Proteus Kits Cosmos in my stash, I can see a definite conversion possibility of doing an Eland powered version using some Dak Dart nacelles ------ or maybe it's the Tyne nacelles from an Atlantic --- think on this I will --- :icon_jedi:

Well, the last few weeks, myself and my neighbour have been doing a little work converting my loft, pleased to say its nearly there, just the electrics, some woodwork and carpets (which will have to wait until life returns to normal) to go in.
