I've always had a soft spot for the old P-26 'Peashooter,' but never built a model of one. I recently got the old Revell Germany P-26 in 1/72 scale. I pondered for a long time whether to build it OOB (but with Guatemalan markings), or to WHIF it up (as it were). I finally decided on the latter. I was quite surprised at how modern the Super Peashooter looked when finished. Mods were few and simple: replaced the engine and cowling with the heavily modified cowling and prop from a 1/72 Airfix Kingfisher. The engine inside it is a heavily modified resin R-2600 (with reduced stroke [diameter decreased by sanding] and the rear bank of cylinder removed). The only other mod was the addition of a canopy (from a 1/72 Hasegawa Ki-44 'Tojo'). Of course the rigging was left off to indicate structural mods, making the wing and landing gear fully cantilever (yes, I know, but this is WHIFworld!). The Decals are from an Aztec set (72-045).
She came out very well, I think, although the finish could be better. Hope you like her.
