Here's a new idea:
1/35 scale Sci-Fi human transport vehicles. All original in creation, no Star Wars/Trek/Aliens/etc.
Any era, any mode of transport, alternative life forms allowed but only in a secondary role, any universe. Support structures allowed too. (I have this odd shaped shampoo bottle that may become the foundation for a MagicSculpt house in which to park my rig in front of)
Why 1/35 scale? There is a ready supply of rather inexpensive parts and it is a well understood scale. As most people in the modeling world tend towards some sort of conflict-involved vehicle, 1/35 makes sense. Air, land, sea, space, intraterrainian, intradimensional, whatever. It just has to be human transport. And for the love of mud, throw Charles Darwin completely out the door like Lucas did with Star Wars and build from there.
Can it be a modified form of a pre-existing kit? Sure! Can it be *entirely* original and completely scratchbuilt? Sure!
Since it would involve a fair bit of scratch building, the GB would be of extended length and have no prize other than the satisfaction of creating something uniquely your own and sharing it with the world. I'm just sorry Knob Creek Bourbon don't do 1/35 scale replicas of their bottles or I'd suggest that be a constant in each entrant just for kicks.
Starbucks is too blasė.
For instance, here is this powered hang ''glider'' that I just drew up a minute ago. It was inspired by late 1800's era hang gliders, the Fokker Eindekker, the Chimney Swifts living in our own chimney, the American drone supposedly shot down by the Iranians, and Hayao Miyazaki's vehicles.
Side view, along with a high speed all terrain communications truck with both suspension and communications disk retracted, driver's position not shown. And yes, that says tanned buffalo hide over tubing for the shell.
Note: These have not been thought through and are simply very preliminary rough drafts of thoughts just popping into my head.
