To begin with, Swedes did order some but they were never delivered. Here's a rendering of what they might have looked like in service:

Alternate powerplants? Either larger and/or more powerful radial engines or suitable Daimler-Benz, Rolls-Royce, or Junker Jumo products. Perhaps with the engine and radiator installations from a Fw190D or Ta152?
-
Then of course there's Finland. There was great interest in the FAF for G.1 but eventually Douhetism won over and we bought Blenheims instead.
Double-bluff what-if: what if the Spanish Republican order that as a cover story was a Finnish order, that being plausible due to the interest, would have been actually dellvered to Finland eventually? Even in OTL this almost happened in the autumn of 1939 but the price was deemed too high. Then after Winter war started, it was too late so the offer was abandoned again.
During Winter War, squadrons of G.1's would have been a nasty surprise to unescorted SB-2 raids.

Or some .50 machine guns op front. Or 20mm...

Some cool artwork:

Fokker Ontwerp 129 - Precursor of the Fokker G.1 gives an idea of what an inline version might have looked like:

I thought the same thing Jon.

And speaking of different engines:

Fokker G.1 with DB 601s

Or what they really are, a G.1 with either Spitfire or Bf 109E noses on the nacelles. ;D
-
Oh I know that but they still give people an idea of what they might look like.
-
What about a floatplane version?
-
An idea: Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force Fokker G.1 which makes its way to Australia post the Japanese invasion and gets put into RAAF service.
-
He 112 style noses would look better than 109E.

I was thinking more of something like the Bf110's engine installations with wing radiators or simply something like the Fw190D's installation with frontal radiator.
-
Hmmm...I have a resin Fokker G-1 and a resin Beaufighter Mk.IIF Conversion Set...
-
Swap out the Bristol Mercurys and replace them with Hercules radials. Then maybe you'd have something along the lines of a Beaufighter.

Hercules would increase the weight by over 1,900 lbs, that's just the engines not the new mounts
etc. etc.
R-1830s only by 568 lbs., just the engines.
-
Fokker played with a Hercules-powered G.1 derivative concept in 1937. The twin-boomed Ontwerp 152/Fokker T.VI was supposed to be a medium bomber based on the G.1 airframe. In reality, I suspect there would have been very little commonality remaining.
