Advanced Interceptor
« on: January 23, 2012, 07:05:49 AM »
So one of my favorite all time Sci fi ships is the Interceptor from the Gerry Anderson live action show UFO :-*

I have recently (finally) aquired a couple of models of it . My wife is coming out to Cali in a couple weeks and will be bringing them to me but in the meantime I will be working on a super advanced version built from this

Nice big model . I will be scalo' ing it from a huge 1/350 rocket to a 1 or 2 man intercepter >:D

Texans never do anything in a small way, do they?

Very much looking forward to seeing more on this, Ron! Your fantastic Viper was a warm up, huh?

OH YEAH ;) I feel bad that my initial build on this site was not a major kitbash :-[ I hope this will make up for that 8)
Here is the preliminary mock up >:D
I am thinking a 1/48 Cobra for the cockpit and a 1/48 Apache for the forward pods and secondary engines. 4 landing gear struts adapted from leftover Viper parts .
The nose missile and the wing pods as well as the vertical stab will house multiple missile pods.
AND THEN THERE WILL BE GUNS >:D

Very cool, and much more in the brutal vein of Mike Trim's original design for the Interceptor,
which was rejected in favour of Meddings conception.

22 inch long model, a mere $799.95.

Thanks Weave :) I stuck the Apache engines on the sponsons

I will blend them in later >:D I also got this today

So I have lots o different sizes of rocket engines to add to places like the intakes on the Cobra engines and the transmissions on the Apache as retro rockets.  I will also be sprinkling them throughout the ship as RCS thrusters >:D

Holy moly this is fantastic! Yes, I'm envious. I wish I had a fraction of your imagination and skill.

And beer.

Seriously, Ron this is amazing! I would never think to add a small rocket on the front for the nose. Outstanding!

The guys who did the model work for Gerry Anderson are probably jealous.  That's building into a truly gorgeous machine.
