Very interesting! So what is this made from? What was your inspiration?
-
Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica would be my main influences.
The build itself started with a sheet of plasticard with the basic shape marked out and from their it evolved depending on what parts could be scrounged from the spares box and what I could source from other kits. The nose to the front of the cockpit is the rear end of an Airfix Superfreighter (!:72 scale). The cockpit interior is a spare from a Tamiya A-10 (1:48 scale).
The rear of the main body started life as a McDonalds Toy. The rest was developed from there using copious amounts of Plastic Strip and enough filler to smooth out the bodywork. The rounded shape was attained by taping the plasticard to a jar with H form plastic strip already attached that I had cut through to the base so when bent the cuts spread out and to maintain the shape I used plastic strip in layers glued over the H form Plastic strip. Check the pictures.
