Guess the Part in 1/72 Scale
« on: June 25, 2015, 02:55:20 AM »
So a while back, a good friend of mine sent me a brace of 1/72 Modelcraft Wellingtons. Well, I finally pulled one out of the pile and set to building it. Keep in mind, none of my models ever end out looking like the nice picture on the box (or in this case, since they were bagged Wellies, the nice picture in the directions). After some thought, I found the perfect replacement wings:

Can you guess where the donor wings came from?

Oh, and since I'm de-milling this one, I had to re-do the tail. The nose from a 1/72 Mossie made a passable tail cone:

A little putty later and it almost blends in!

Oh, and a new nose is in store for this baby too, soon hopefully.

So where do you think I got those wings from?

Hi Brian,
Well, they came out of a Monogram B-36 box  ;)  They look just pretty darned good, too. Stay tuned for more RB-36 nonsense in the near future  :D

Wow I knew you guys were good, but I didn't expect the answer that fast!

Well done, Kem! Yes, somewhere in the Bashersphere is a poor, flightless B-36.

Should have more to show soon.

That's a neat-looking machine, Brian, and those new wings really work!

Cool!

I'd love to know what the rate of roll is with ailerons like that.

I'll have to remember this for the backstory. Rate of roll could be a vital feature...

Paint is on and so is the new nose. Moving on to touch-ups & decals next.

Frusgtrated by the limits put on him by the management at Shorts, Arthur Gouge went to Vickers were he
was able to follow his dream of advancing his flap research to produce an all flaperon wing. While seen on
the tarmac on a number of occasions the historical record is silent on test flight results.

Hmm, Wimpy wings as B-36 horizontal tails complete with Vickers engine nacelles for "eight turning, four burning" ?  ;D

Does the Bashersphere extend to underwater machines?.......

Yes, and make large portions of the B-36 fuselage and wings of geodetic construction!  ;D

Wellington and B-36 combo - nice :)
Wonder how Wellington wing span compares to B-36 tail wing span ?
Waiting to see what type(s) and number of engines will be used.
