Title: ModelCollect
Post by: Jeffry Fontaine on May 28, 2014, 07:05:31 AM
A relatively new [to me] company called Modelcollect (http://www.modelcollect.com/) from the PRC now has a very impressive and nicely detailed 1:72nd scale T-72B with ERA Main Battle Tank (kit number UA72007) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9886) available.  Images of the kit parts uploaded to Modelversium.de by Manuel Leyva.

***Edit to add link to Modelcollect (http://www.modelcollect.com/) web page.

Looks like they do a range of T-72s and the TOS-1 flamethrower rocket system too - nice.

Modelcollect's Facebook page (LINK! (https://www.facebook.com/Modelcollect)) has a lot of CAD renderings of upcoming interesting stuff in 1/72! Interesting if you're interested in Soviet/Russian armour, that is. Apart from just about all marks of MBTs (T-55/62/64/72/80/90 -  :icon_surprised:), they also plan to release a Scud!  8)

Probably as a direct result of Uncle Les' great looking E series tanks Model Collect seems to be offering a stack of options.

Is this for real?  :icon_surprised:

Were sales of the 1:144th scale Ratte that good that a 1:72nd scale kit was justified?

If this is for real, we may very well see a rise in sales for other accessories in that same vein, such as Jodhpurs, riding boots, and whips... :)

Yes it is.

Maybe surround it with these:

Now that you mentioned it; yes I see the connection !

Did math:  1/72 hull length = 19.2"     Compare to 1/72 M48 hull (happens to be on desk) which is 3.75"
                               width =   7.7"                                                                                             2"

Damn, wrong scale!  ;D

Seriously though, it's pretty cool even in 1/72 scale. For me, I think it would work as a close stand in for the Panther-like walking tanks used by Helvetia in the (sadly under appreciated) anime series Sora no Woto.

Beautiful on the exterior, but they definitely have some of the internals wrong, way wrong and, in some cases, out of position.  A quarter-century after I worked on it and some things still remain clear in my memory.  Additionally, they don't even have the APUs nor the intake doors for them and the doors are easily noticeable when the aircraft is sitting on the ground.

I'm 3/4 way through their 1/72 B-2 and its not half bad. I'd never heard of them until recently. Lots of good details and the fit is surprisingly good considering the lack of locating pins etc. The price is a bit of a choking point mind you - $199.95(AU) is a bit steep for what you get but also kind of worth it as it is a massive improvement on the only other alternative - the Testors version (I like having hair on my head thanks - although I am going to make a WHIF out of the one I had started - stay tuned)

I don't think they have the bomb bay correct, I've looked inside a B-52 bomb bay and it only goes about half way up inside. There should be a floor there which is just under the bottom of the wing spars, think there's fuel tanks above the floor IIRC.

I've made some 'Big Belly' bomb racks for one of my B-52D's I have, and the governing factor to how tall they are is this floor height.

A question, if I may.  The sample pictures I've seen do not show the APU's, in their shrouds, in the forward inboard corners of each main landing gear bay nor the exhaust doors on the upper surface.  Does the final kit have these?

No I don't think so. TBH, I haven't paid that much attention - which is my downfall here

Here's a pic of the underside (its the only one i have presently. I will take more for you later if you want them)

Because the detail in that bomb bay doesn't look like this below.

Madhatter,

Thanks for that, it does answer my question.  They don't show the APU's though they do appear to have the structure on the inboard walls of the main landing gear bays that supports the fire walls around them.

Kitnut617,
No they should all be to the same standard build since there are not that many of them.  I know for certain the first three are quite similar.

There are quote a few details missing from this kit in regards to the intetnals but you do get 4 engines. Small consolation i know but still better than the sci-fi effort from testors

For what it's worth, I understand, not having built mine yet, that the Testor's kit goes together about as well as B-2A No.1 did (Northrop and Boeing had some "discussions" over that one).  The earlier "B-2" kits out there are still more science-fiction, but suitable for whif fodder.

You dare to question the righteousness of the Only True Aircraft Scale (All Hail 1/48!), blasphemer? ???

You dare to impugn the sanctity of the Sacred Armour (& Helicopter) Scale (All Bow before 1/35), false idolater? ???

From the art, it looks like they might have cleaned up a few things I found wrong with the original.  I'll wait and see on that, though.  Be nice if you could open the APU exhaust doors and the auxiliary inlet doors on the top surafeces surfaces.

I blame typing too late at night for that amusing typo.  Hope everyone got a good laugh.

It's a form of stealth - radio waves approach the aircraft and see it's full of sura feces and go "ew! Not touching that!" rendering the aircraft invisible.

Documents what I said before, they omitted the APU's in their shrouds, one each, in the forward inboard corner of each MLG bay.  Something that will need to be added and which I have not seen addressed.

Could they be represented say via decals or Photoetch?

You could probably do it with photoetch since the shroud is a flat-sided cylinder (flat side on the inboard side of the MLG bay( with a screen on the bottom and the exhaust sticking out the top, where an opening door is.  I'm not sure if they have the decals for the APU exhaust doors on the upper surface or not; they are not real noticeable unless open.

Title: Re: ModelCollect

I was curious to know when the ModelCollect A-12 Avenger II kit would be available for purchase.  The ScaleMates.com page for this kit says 2020, ModelCollect page also says 2020.  It is now May 2020 and still no A-12 Avenger II kit on the shelf for consumption.

So I went to the ModelCollect page and made an inquiry to the company asking when will the A-12 Avenger kit be available to purchase.  the reply back was rather quick and is quoted here:
Quote
dear sir
sorry for the trouble, the project is delayed and the goods are not good yet.
best regards
jiangwei Li
modelcollect <service@modelcollect.com>

So it looks like we will be doing a lot more of the hurry-up-and-wait shuffle for this kit.  A real shame too since Greg went to great effort to "assist" [by purchasing the Collectaire resin kit] in seeing that this kit would become available as a normal injection moulded plastic kit for the rest of us in the unwashed masses to enjoy.

Starting to think that Greg needs to purchase a couple more of those resin Collectaire paperweights to make this happen?

What's deal on their aircraft and 72nd line?

Their 1/35 AFV are fun, but, quite basic in the details.

I didn't even know Model Collect did 1/35 AFV's! :icon_surprised:

If so, I'd guess that their 1/35 stuff is up-scaled from their more common 1/72 AFVs, which would explain the limited detail of the larger kits.
