Grumman F4F-1
« on: April 03, 2016, 03:26:03 PM »
Just a quickie that I wanted to finish up before I start on my gunship build.  You're all probably aware that the Grumman F4F Wildcat started life as a biplane design, though it was never built as such, and redesigned as the monoplane we all know as a much-needed backup to the F2A Buffalo.  Well, what if the powers that be had not had that foresight?  This is my take on a biplane Wildcat.  There is much to nitpick about it - the entire wing celllule should be lowered, and the paint scheme is very inauthentic.  Nevertheless, I like how it turned out, especially for a quick build!  Enjoy!

The time frame of the design would demand yellow wings but I think this looks great! Just say it was experimental camo for war games.

Tres cool. This would look great beside a SBC Helldiver.
Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Very nice! And far better looking than what Grumman came up with  :)
