Falklands HMS Sheffield - Finished
« on: February 03, 2018, 07:00:37 PM »
Spoke earlier about having a crack at the HMS Sheffield after it was hit by the Exocet.
So using this famous pic as my master reference

Went to work using venerable Skywave 1/700 HMS Sheffield

Pretty much out of the box, replaced some of the thick deck parts with stretched sprue for the rope guide (must be some sort of technical boaty term)

This built sort of gets down to pulling off the paint work. This is the inital crack at working up the paint.

this is where I am at so far, but still a far way to go with more railing and paint detail

Oh my goodness yes! Talk about a great showcase of some exceptional talent!

What a treat to see an HMS Sheffield built up too! I've had a soft-spot for Sheffield since the movie Threads.

Calling this done
The etch radar is well worth the effort and looks a treat, much better than the insipid kit part

Reasonably happy with the way it come out

Greaty build and fantastic result.

The damage effects are top notch. With the right photo set-up it could pass for the real thing!
