While I am waiting for the kids to get up, I thought I would start a new topic.
Mach 2 released a 1/72 Learjet at Telford. The sprue shot shows you can build several variants. And restock your spares department.
There is thread on it over at Britmodeler (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234971266-172-c-21-learjet-35-by-mach-2-released/).

Oh, and Merry Christmas everyone. O0

Looks to be your basic Model 35/36 with options for several special-use variants. I'll definitely be buying some and I hope they proceed to do a set of kits for the 20-series Learjets and the Lear 54/55/56 at least.
-
It looks cool, I wonder if they will do other bizjets in the future, Gulfstreams, Citations, Challengers
-
A Challenger would be nice. They (don't remember the brand) come on EBay once and a while but they become too expensive for my wallet.
-
I like the Lear, but I really need a Falcon 20F :)
Challenger would be nice too. :)

Kurt Lehmann does a very nice Challenger in resin as does Leading Edge Decals (if you can find one). I have two 1/72 Execuform kits in my stash, I'm planning on using some details from an RJ200 kit I have, although they might not be totally correct but they'll do for me.
I had thought of reverse engineering the RJ200 but there's quite a bit to do to get a Challenger out of it.

Got one of those Mach2 Falcons too, plus some JBot decals for a CAF operated one
-
No idea where to get Mach 2 kits here in Canada. The one LHS that used to stock them is closed. :(
Mississauga, Ontario that is. I know CanMilAir has the decal set I need.
-
Folks! I see Hannants has in the Future Releases section has four 1/72 Armstrong-Whitworth Argosy kits from Mach 2.

There is thread about it or rather the agony of building Mach 2 kits over at Britmodeller (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234990603-172-aw-argosy-mach-2/).
It would appear that SMW is the launch venue. Are there any volunteers ready to take one for the team and check it out?
It would look nice with a RCAF lightning bolt.
-
I have an Airfix Bristol Freighter on the go (including resin to make it a "normal" Mk31) and that's big enough for me - I'd hate to see the size of an Argosy in 72!!!
-
On the Future Releases page (https://www.hannants.co.uk/futurereleases/) at Hannants this morning, they show the Dassault-Mystere Falcon 20 being re-released in 12 different markings.

That's odd Carl, I got one from years ago. Just need to build it. I've got Jbot decals for a CAF one too. IIRC, you can build a USCG version too, it has a large window to replace one of the smaller ones.
-
How ideal would the Argosy be for the current group build?

I would like to purchase/build one as 414 SQN did visit Comox to play with the Voodoos. But I would update it to near current specs and colours (new ECM fit and all gray FIPS).
I suspect the kits decals may not be up to snuff.

A 1/72 Avro York has been announced at Telford

The York is on the Hannants Future Release page.
There are 4 kits, each with one of these four possible markings:

-
I've got two conversion sets by CMK (I think), one will be for the only York C.2 with Hercules engines
-
If I recall correctly York and Tudor were meant to be produced in Australia along side the Lincolns by GAF.
-
It would appear that Mach 2 has made a stealth announcement for a 1/72 Bristol Britannia at Telford. (I'm sorry Greg. I'm not helping here am I?)
The announcement was done via the France based Master 194 Forum here: http://master194.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=100505#p1251033 (http://master194.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=100505#p1251033)

Folks at Britmodeller noted the nose does not look right. It is mostly the paint scheme.
For those (like me) who are looking at the CL-44/ RCAF CC-106 Yukon please note the changes made by Canadair:
The RCAF had specified the CL-44 to be equipped with Bristol Orion engines. When the British Ministry of Supply canceled the Orion program, the RCAF revised the specifications to substitute the Rolls-Royce Tyne 11. The CL-44 fuselage was lengthened making it 12 ft 4 in (3.75 m) longer than the Britannia 300 with two large cargo doors added on the port side on some aircraft, while the cabin was pressurized to maintain a cabin altitude of 2,400 m at 9,000 m (30,000 ft). The design used modified CL-28 wings and controls.
I have a picture somewhere of a RAF A&AEE Britannia at YOW taken in 1984.
-
Yeah! at last ---- now I can carry on using my Airways Vac Form kit of the Britannia to make a CL-44. Got most of the parts gathered to do it too ---- including some of these below

Err, I think that last one was posted in the wrong thread, should be in the one on Valom.
The Jetstars are interesting, good to see the markings for "Air Force One-Half" (as LBJ nicknamed it).

Oops. Thanks for re-post. Or we can create a new brand called Malom-2 or Vach-2.

Transport Canada flew the Jetstar as a VIP Transport. Retired in 1985.

Traffic on Britmodeller indicated it was sold at Telford.
Here are some observations from one new owner.
I purchased the low-viz VC10 XV107 from Didier at Telford, and have been comparing against references, including images of XV107.
While there is more work to be done to check everything, I am very pleased with the overall outline of wing, fuselage, fin and tail, and the washout of the wings. I am encouraged that such subtle features as the non standard spacing of the rear window on the port side has been faithfully captured.
Observations to date:
- The wing-body fairing seems to come a little too far forward and will need to be cut back - no more than 0.5cm
- The fin fillet leading edge is not sharp enough
- The nib between the engine exhaust seems a little shallow
- The characteristic twist in the engine pylons needs care to introduce - flat as moulded but within scope of bending the plastic
- The windscreen looks odd because the central panel is twice as wide as it should be - easy to cut but may have other implications on the nose shape. I also think the cockpit transparency needs to be tilted back a bit, but this requires assembly to test.
- Usual challenge of cabin window alignment
- Fin vortex generators need to be added
On the whole - looks pretty good.

So who will do a Poffler conversion:
Or perhaps a Nimrod:

I would love to do a Qantas version, then an ex Qantas RAAF version ;)

Stumbled on this build: Converting the 1/72 Mach 2 DC-8 Into a Short Body Combi
Builder did an amazing amount of research and work to convert the base kit to the new version.
And I am required to share it as it is in TCA colours. https://airlinercafe.com/modeling-articles/converting-the-1-72-mach-2-dc-8-into-a-short-body-combi-180880/

^ I used to live on the flightpath of YYZ around 1980-81. The DC-8's would take off right over the house, you basically all had to stop conversation for about 15 seconds. We figured out pretty quick why the homes came with double glazed windows and central AC! Now I live near YOW and am amazed at how quiet aircraft have become.

Did you know only one VC-10K got this camo scheme. And just for a trial too.
