Title: SWMBO persistent request :)
Post by: Artoor_K on March 17, 2015, 03:58:10 AM
Hi there :)

I know that it's already started model but I hope it'll be allowed.
I bought this 1/400 battleship Potemkin about a year ago. I began it but after some serious fitting problems and serious falls from shelf I throw it on "shelf-of-doom".
Yesterday, after Scale Model Fest in Bytom I had almost a quarrel with my fiancee :) I bought 1/32 Revell Gripen. Surprisingly price wasn't a problem. The problem was that...I have a lot of models that she wants to see finished and strangely I don't want to finish them :) So I have no choice and here it is: batleship Potemkin, made by Oгонок company in USSR in '60 (I think so).
Here it's look by now:

I shall allow it!  Especially in the spirit of clearing the bench/"shelf of doom" and maintaining marital bliss  ;)

That era of ships have soooo much character.
Look forward to seeing Potemkin finished OOB or bashed (little or lot).

My fiancee knows where to find this topic so I have to move forward with this work :)
After some painting:

Broken masts were repaired and funnel details added. Some deck wash is there also.

It was one of the worst models that I ever put together. Only quality of styrene was good. Instruction wasn't clear, paint scheme non existent, terrible fit etc. I'm proud of stand only :)
More photos in the "Finished models" section (whet it'll be here:))

Silk purse from a sow's ear! = To produce something refined, admirable, or valuable from something which is unrefined, unpleasant, or of little or no value.

Always liked these pre dreadnought style battleships
Of course I always tend to see HMS Thunderchild from War of the Worlds.

Great job
