Title: Tigger Models - For those that like their models BIG
Post by: Rickshaw on June 01, 2014, 07:18:35 PM
Tigger models, specialising in 1/32 and and 1/48 Vacuforms - http://tigger-models.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/welcome-to-tigger-models.html (http://tigger-models.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/welcome-to-tigger-models.html)

Greg might like one of their P-3Cs in 1/48.  ;)

It is tempting...
Some of those kits are absolutely amazing due to their size and the structural issues that need to be addressed when building the thing so it will not collapse under the weight of the completed kit.

Vacu-Form kits are still something I try to avoid at all costs.  I remember all too well trying to build the vacu-form parts for the bomb on a balsa and paper model of the Ju-87 Stuka in some large scale when I was very young.  Probably my first ever encounter with vacu-forum products and it ended miserably for me with the bomb not having sufficient material to successfully glue the halves together.  I guess I was traumatized by that experience and have avoided any major vacu-form kit ever since.

There's a world of difference between the vac parts in a Guillows balsa kit and those
from Dynavector, Falcon, Aeroclub etc.

However the old ID Models stuff Tigger is flogging are closer to that old Stuka bomb.  ;D

I am sure your skills have improved considerably since then.  As JCF as suggested, the newer vacuforms are also considerably improved.  Just read the instructions and look at a few websites on how-to do vacuforms and then just dive in.  I found them surprisingly easy actually when I tried a few.
