Title: MST-96 "Gidorah" - Games Workshop
Post by: Artoor_K on January 12, 2013, 10:20:54 PM
MST-96 "Gidorah" - very heavy siege tank designed and produced in 2038 as self-propelled long range artillery. Used mainly in 2039 asian conflict. Many of these giant vehicles were destroyed then from air because of no anti-aircraft defences. Further devenlopment of these beasts led to emerge a new type of fighting vehicle - self propelled almost-fortress prepared to repulse air or land attack. Very popular as defence artillery although frequently used as a defence breaker.

Basical tech data:

Weight:    320 tonnes
Length:    13.5m
Width:    8.4m
Height:    6.3m
Max Speed - on road    40kph , off-road 30kph
Powerplant - 4S reactor
Armanent: four long range AA guns, two '50 MG's , six AP guns

320 tons and nuclear propelled???!!!  Holy crap!  Love the design, its reminiscent of the early Mk Is, sweet  8)

Hope its armored out the wazzoo otherwise the desert will get more sunshine then its used to  ;D  So how's it keep from sinking into the sand?  Integrated repulsor lifts underneath?

Can't wait to see how this develops.  Does the kit come with any sort of interior or crew?

I hope that tracks are wide enough ;)

Interior - no , crew - yes but in W40K style. I have Delta Force squad in proper scale and I'll use them.

I have to say that I like Games Workshop models. They're well detailed and good fit. One thing I hate about them is RIVETS ("rivets" is not appropriate form). I want to remove almost all of them.

Another annoying things are ubiquitous W40K characteristic features: eagles, skulls, purity seals etc. They're everywhere , even on tracks. For example , this is rear panel with so called "chapel of god in machine":

It's really well molded but totally    incongruous. I'll remove it and put a styrene piece on this place.

Rivets had been already removed from turrent and cannon. That's how it looks now:
