LS 1/144 MDD F-4E Phantom II (J9_A117)
« on: August 26, 2013, 04:12:19 PM »
Built 20Apr1987 as a USAF aircraft in semi lo-viz greys (apart from a still camoflaged wing tank) as AF-70338/UK with missiles (AIM-7F Sparows & AIM-9J Sidewinders) and an ALQ-119 jamming pod (all from an LS weapons set) in the forward port Sparrow missile well, scratch built missile rails added to the inboard pylons with AIM-9J Sidewinder advanced heatseekers fitted. Used a lot of modellers license with the camo scheme and the aircraft codes as I was bored with the her SEA sisters, but the model came out well anyway.  :)

Impressive line up of Phantoms  :)
Sweet builds all.  This latest camo works well.  Does come across more modern than the rest  8)

South Korea used a scheme much like this, only in light+dark ghost grey.

Looks great, and nice lineup!

How is the kit itself?

That's a fine addition to your fleet of Phantoms! Working in such a small scale is very impressive.

Your canopy framing is absolutely first rate!

Well Wombat, the new stuff is in the planning, I 'spose I should get something out soon, as it says in the original post this F-4E was built in 1987.  :o

Litvak, the kit is relatively basic ( ;)) but the out line and dimensions appear spot on for a production F-4E with the modded gun fairing (to stop the 'scream/whistling' produced by the original 'short' fairing) before the wing was modded with leading edge maneuvering slats. The only weapons in the kit are a pair of AIM-7F (?) Sparrows, if you have a look at the camo'ed/JSDAF sisters you'll see the 'basic' finished item.  :) From what I've found out it appears that most of the birds I've modeled became F-4G Wild Weasels!  8)

Thanks Brian, glad you like the effort I put into finishing my models.  :)

That's a cool comment Weaver, thanks, I guess I should've not included the scale and left you guessing!  8)

I actually have quite a few more of these kits to do, but none of the subjects are Whiffs, a few RAAF and an F-4G to start with.

I'll refrain from posting any more colour scheme only Whiffs, got some doozies planned too!!  :icon_meditation:

Thankyou for the comments. :D

Don't be scared Chris, small is fun, and cheap too, it can allow many Whiffs for a lot less. :D :D
