1/72 Harrier GR.1N
« on: June 21, 2018, 02:22:00 AM »
Another result of taking my "Getoffyouassium" anti-procrastination drug.

I have known many of you 7 years or more so I think I have good idea of what keeps you awake at night.

One item I know is in your thoughts is what a T-tailed twin tailed Harrier / AV-8 would look like? Well you can sleep soundly tonight as I have found the solution.

This is the Fujimi GR.3. I used 1/100 A-6 horizontal stabs and 1/72 Do 217 vertical stabs. I will be adding other surprises as the build moves forward. This kit donated it's horizontal stabs to my AV-8X build.

Looks a treat.

But... wouldn't that be "twin-tailed" and not "T-tailed"?  Or are my t's different than yours?

You are right TCT. My error. Fixed to be twin-tailed.

I really like this concept! It's like a faster, hotter sister of the He 162 Salamander.

Your imagination is limitless, Mr Gimper.

No worries.  But thinking about now, I wonder how a T-tailed Harriet would look?  Maybe one of the big wing late models?

Wicked cool!  8)

X-tail. Twin tail. What's next?  :icon_beer:

Big wing, twin boom (with main landing gear) with F-35B-ish hot swivel nozzle?
:icon_surprised:

Y-tail, the aforementioned T-tail, V-tail, ^-tail (inverted-V), duck-tail. ;)

Good ideas. Thank you. Actually I have another Harrier concept but I'll share it once I get past the 1/2 way point on the build.

Here are some WIP shots of my now renamed GR.1N. It will be part of the NATO "NADA" force. I'll provide the history at the end of the build.

Now is this build:

A) Harrier Heroics?
B) Harrier Heresy?
C) Harrier What-the-hell?
D) Harrier Hemp induced madness? (Canada will legalize Hemp in the fall)
E) All of the above
F) Send this guy packing as he crossed-the-line

Kind of reminds me (just a little) of the Pelican in the early HALO games

You know Carl, the more I look at this the more I'd like to build one like it.  I've got this Heller BobKit T.4 in the stash and some spare A-10 fins ------------ hmmm!

My brain wave suppression tin foil hat has failed me once again! I too have the Heller TAV-8B kit (ex-Airfix) and have planned for the same conversion.

My current hat is still leaking as you are 3,499 Km away. Will have to add another layer or two.

I feel your pain, Mr Gimper. I snap those doggone things off every time like they're going out of style.

The person that comes up with a pitot tube that stays put will earn everything they make on it and then some!

That's a great looking bird and I'm enjoying the play-by-play!
