Deutcshes Raumfahrzeug Projekt....
« on: December 30, 2012, 08:04:47 AM »
Well, what a nice surprise!  After I built the Saturn V rocket, I had all the Apollo parts left over...

Hmm, what to do...??

So, after careful(!) combination with the Saturn parts, I came up with idea of the Germans attempting to start a Moonbase to upset the Americans with...

And here it is, all finished and based up - recently took this to the Brampton Model Show, where it seemed to exhibit a strange 'arrestor hook' effect on the passing peoples!!

And here's a close-up of the Launch Pad, and the security...

Hi,love that splinter scheme, could do with a few more pics though,im still trying to work out what parts are what, its certainly different, well ive actually built the planned german rocket, the nova c8,thats a beast, not my best work, but it was my first attempt at big resin.sorry should rephrase that its not the german rocket, its the apollo/saturn nova c-8,straight to the moon ,no messing about with, weird shaped lander,s etc.
back to topic,i like the panel lines on the lower fuelage, are they done in pen?or wash?,its certainly one for the collection, did you win anything?.
Ive seen lately something a bit.....similar,only done with R.A.F. COLOURS,  and a bit smaller, using a pegasus apollo 24 i think?i ,ll try and find the pic.great model, whats the scale/size,btw..cheers Don

The "launchpad security" is a nice touch.

Well done, deathjester!

Hey there Don!

Well, to answer your questions:

Scale - 1/288

First stage - Unknown 1/72 V-2 with plasticard wings
Booster engines from Revell Star Wars Republic Star Destroyer.

Second stage - Airfix Saturn V upper stage (spare with Skylab version)

Third stage - Airfix Service Module, and LM shroud, with modified 1/24 Harrier GR3 nosecone (trapesiodal wings added)

Base - Plywood rings, greeblies from spares box.

Panels - all painstakingly done with a fineliner pen!

The British marked ship you have seen may well be by the chap who gave me the V-2, goes by the username 'The Darkmaster', over on What If Modelers.

The "launchpad security" is a nice touch.

Well done, deathjester!

Cheers mate - knocked up that base in the afternoon before the show I took it to - works quite nicely!
