Many years ago I mashed up a 1/48 Revell Warthog with a Tamiya A-10, added some plasticard, homespun resin and a vac-formed canopy and made a very bland grey A-10B N/AW facsimile of an aircraft that flew but was retired way too early being deemed redundant. This afternoon I snapped it up off the shelf in a fit of "I need to get my aircraft painting hand back in" having spent the best part of the last month doing commission work on wargaming AFVs ( I am so over mixing yellow and black to make accurate olive green !! ) and decided to wotify the warthog. I have another in 1/32 in the elblando grey scheme so I don't feel so bad repurposing this one. I pulled off some stores, repaired some minor breakages, painted it as you see and whacked on some roos. Et voila - something to keep the musorian armour at bay.

Nice one, Les!
You'd think that in a country designed for armoured warfare, with flat plains everywhere, that we'd have a few of these around, wouldn't you!? ???

Yet more proof that few things spice up a model like those RAAF 'roos!
Outstanding paintwork to boot too!

What they said ;)

I have a Tamiya 1/72 single-seat A-10 partway through this exact camo with roos ready to go! Bravo Les!
-
Definitely inspiration for applying the old Maintrack 1/48 conversion kit to a suitable A-10 kit.
-
Would make a lot of sense for the RAAF to have this flying CAS for the Abrams & ASLAVS!
-
I'll go with wot Wombat said, never a truer word ;) ;)
Great work Les, love the fade in the paint, looks just right  8) 8)

One has to be careful doing that... (http://www.snopes.com/humor/nonsense/kangaroo.asp)

Looks good, I have a similar idea but in the same scheme that the Blackhawks and Kiowa's use.

From here (http://here). Note that this has the 30mm cannon replaced with a 20mm.
