Elf Bust 1/10 - 3D Printing (UV resin) experience
« on: February 04, 2019, 03:14:31 AM »
Hi guys

A friend of mine sen me this:

A really cool example of a 3d UV resin printing.

The scale looks like 1/10, or something similar.

Since painting figures in a big scale like this is beyond my painting skills, if had chosen a traditional approach,
the final result would be embarrassing, to say the least :)

So I chose a minimalist monochromatic approach, with an oil wash over a metallic base paint.

Before the painting I invested a few minutes in preparing the bust (a very light sanding in some key points).

Just to show another example of the current possibilities this technology, using a home printer (low end of the price range) and the cheapest resin available.

Not bad, I would say :)

Thanks for watching!

Wow that's some impressive casting but I'm even more impressed by how well you replicated the pewter!

Brilliant move with that approach, Antonio!

Looks fantastic! Do you know which printer he used? Wanhao,r Anycubic Photon or Sparkmaker (which is around $250-300). The results are better than what Shapeways current provides, but the resins are expensive, smelly and the process can be messy. Still, if you have the room and the patience, they produce amazing results!

Thanks for the comments!

The 3D printer used was a SparkMaker SLA 3D Printer. The resin used was the cheapest one from Anycubic.
