OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  I hope this means an EA-6A is in the pipeline!!!!!  Long live the Intruders!

Does this one have wing-folds included?

I could see adding one to my stash, but I'd need to source USMC decals for it. I've got a Revell Intruder that I picked up in Okinawa, but really, is one Intruder enough? I say no.

Canadian Army RG-31 boxing announced. Different turret and comms / EW from the initial US Army Mk III issued kit. I can say that Kinetic has had the input from a few pers who had 'intimate' access to the RL vehicle.

At least that means they haven't abandoned 1/72 just yet. Although I personally can't see why they chose a C -17. I'd rather have seen them scale down their Mirage 2000s or their IAI Kfir.  :uuu:

Some years back Panda was supposed to do a 1/72 C-17, and it even had a kit number listed.  Nothing ever came of it.  I can't see it myself.  For modelling purposes the kit is something of a bore.  They are all the same gray, with relevant national insignia,  usually toned down.

Well, there was the proposed BBJ-style derivative; not only could you arrive in your own private business jet, you could bring your transportation with you.

Alternatively, it would look great in FedEx markings.

The only 1/48 kit I ever built was a, from memory, Revell P-40 Warhawk for my younger brother it was fun and looked good but didn't last long before our adopted mentally disturbed brother tried to make it fly....... ::)

Maybe that sad memory is the source of my hesitation ref 1/48.  I do have a FJ-4A Fury and a Seahawk in the stash but haven't started either.  Maybe I could just reserve the scale for my alternate RAN FAA Whiffs.

Israeli 109 - cool!  :) I want to build a diorama of that pic (can't find it at the moment, of course) of the guy who strung up a hammock between the muzzle brake and the turret and caught some Zs. Bad drill, I know (and after some Zs he probably caught some flak  ;D), but it was a funny pic.

There are some inner city places that get pretty rough but I think most are concerned with situations like the bank robbery shoot out in LA a few years ago that went on for hours. The two perps had AK-47s and incredible amounts of ammunition and enough body armor for a whole platoon.

And the SWAT teams stuck on the wrong side of the resulting traffic jam, saw a doco on it a few years ago.  From memory it was over within in minutes of SWAT getting there, every LAPD patrol vehicle has had an assault rifle on board since.

Is there a kit of this vehicle, the RCMP use a version for their armed confrontations --  A couple of years ago some kid holed himself up with a load of guns not far from where I live, this vehicle was used to ram its way through the front door of the house.  It's Canadian built and the first time I heard about it was from Barry (John Howling Mouse), he said he wanted to get one to go with his real Hummvee

Homeland Security mentality plays a part too. The whole "we have to be ready for the end of the world" way of thinking. I think the US military should mothball them out in the boneyard next to all those aircraft to use in the next low intensity war we get into. Police will get rid of them eventually when they figure out how expensive these vehicles are to operate.

We interrupt this discussion to bring you some important news from your moderating staff

To those that are interested in continuing the discussion on the comments following my post please consider starting a new discussion.  I was in no way intending for this to become a thread/topic hijack and the additional bit of information I added regarding the use of these vehicles by law enforcement agencies of the local (municipal) [ie: county/parish/provincial and state] and federal was not intended to launch or divert this topic from the subject of Kinetic Model kits product announcements and kit reviews of these kits that are available on-line.  That comment was added just to advise any potential purchaser of the Kinetic MRAP that it could be built for something other than a military subject.  With that being said, please, consider starting a new discussion topic on the subject of military vehicles in law enforcement or something similar before adding more to this thread on Kinetic Models.

We now return you to your regular scheduled modeling.

Thank you

1/48 AMX! Posted on Kinetic's Facebook page: LINK! (https://www.facebook.com/Kineticmodel/photos/a.150625411771245.1073741825.129238860576567/312523878914730/?type=1)

Yay, an injection-moulded AMX! Finally!  :D Oh, it's in 1/48.  :uuu: I just hope they're doing it in conjunction with Italeri. That might mean there's just a tiny little chance it might be scaled down to 1/72.

Though I think I'll still go ahead with my own conversion/scratch of a Tamiya F-16 into the XL, just to see if I can do it.

I have only ever built two 1/48 kits, a Revell S-55 with floats when I was in primary school and a P-40E for my younger brother when I was in my teens (was quite proud of that too but our other brother decided since it was an aeroplane it should fly).  Anyway with all these really cool kits coming out its getting harder and harder not to buy them and with two (three with my Tamiya Matilda) 1/48 kits in the stash, I may actually need to build one.

Lucky Model is showing the F-16XL (in a Skunkmodels box) as in stock now.  http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=SW-48026 (http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=SW-48026)

I'm itching to pull the purchase trigger...but I may wait and see what Sprue Brothers price will be, plus I may save on shipping within the US.

Oh, but I'm getting one.  No doubt.

Be very tempting to cross with the wings of a F-22 to model the most advanced alternate offered the UAE, but do it in the markings of some other nation or a well-funded mercenary organization.

Hmm, I like that idea.  If you want to go really far out, add a diverterless inlet and a LO nozzle like the F135's.

Too bad they're not scaling down their F-16XL or AMX :( Monogram's OOP F-16XL is worth its weight in gold (and in-production the resin conversion kit for Hasegawa not much cheaper), and AMX is not available at all.

Wonder if they orginally intended to have a 1:72 line but the two Vipers did not sell enough so they didn't make any others?

Thinking that would look good in ROC markings since the M.346 and Chung-Kup share the same basic engine (Honeywell - Formerly Garrett - F125).

I have the Skunk Models -XL that I plan to load out for air-to-air.  Maybe I get one of these to make into a Mud Hen-type bomb truck?

In the Autumn issue of Air-Britain's Aviation World is a nice article about the XF-16XL project. Lots of photos too.

(footnote) Air-Britain used to have three quarterly magazines which you could subscribe too, Aviation World (which came as the standard magazine with a subscription), AeroMilitaria and Archive (which you could add either or both). As of the beginning of this year the three magazines have been amalgamated into one big  (thicker) magazine, Aviation World

It's on their facebook page but no details. Is it only for Japan? How does a person enter a model?
Could be really interesting but I'm not going to start building something if its Japan only. It doesn't make sense to be limited to just one country but who knows.

Why not the G91Y?   The G91RX in 1:48th scale has been kitted at least three times and the only G91Y that I know of is a resin kit.

The box art on that last one almost makes me think of a civilian version converted to passenger/freight travel.  Maybe a commercial derivative of the Grumman C-1 Trader?

I’m not sure if they were from a shop or from Kinetic but there was a couple guys with a boatload of Kinetic kits including the Pucara and F-16XL at my club’s model show. IIRC the price on the Pucara was pushing fifty bucks so I passed on it. I need to finish the one I started to scratch build a looooooong time ago. It might be nice to steal the decals.
