Hi folks,
A thread for your random space and Scifi themed ideas and inspiration that don't really fit anywhere else.
To start with, here is a MiG Space fighter concept I found on the web.
Peter Elson is one of my favorite Sci-Fi artists. Dedicated website here: http://www.peterelson.co.uk/ (http://www.peterelson.co.uk/)

Do I need to provide proof of my sincerity every time I post an image on this site? This is kind of boring!

Spotted this in the morning, but forgot to share until now:

Some Corsairish police vehicle from a Japanese TV show known in France as San Ku Kaï (1979). ;D
It also appeared in a very bad clone of the Star Wars movie made in 1978, don't remember the name...

That's gorgeous!! Who's the artist?
Wow - excellent. Is he selling them or did he just do those three?

What were they trying to do? Nuke the Man in the Moon? :o
I'd really love to see some one illustrate the launch as described in Clarke's novelization. I keep thinking of a booster stage that resembles a massively scaled-up Hawker P.1134 and carries the Orion to launch altitude/velocity.

Does anyone know if there have ever been any stories, comics, books, whatever, canvassing the idea of Mars as a penal colony? The idea came to me a couple of days ago - use Mars like Australia, with the convicts working to terraform/make the planet habitable.

And by the look of the corrugated sides, made by Fokker or Junkers.
Found this while self-educating about the artist Boris Groh (https://www.artstation.com/borisgroh (https://www.artstation.com/borisgroh) ).
Walkers and a pair of Gepards, a BMP2 and maybe a T62?

and mentioned another novel using Sanger's project, Hell's Gate which has it's implausible elements but, in the right hands, would make a great retro-technothriller action movie along the lines of the first "Indiana Jones" movie.
Thatz a kitbash concept inspiration. :smiley:Perhaps start with a kit of one of the larger paddle-wheeled steamships (is a kit of the Great Eastern available?) and replace the paddle wheels with driving wheels as a beginning.

A photographer in Costa Rica observed a “Manta Ray”-shaped UFO, which had no visible means of propulsion. Which means it’s not a drone! In fact, it appears to be using some kind of anti-gravity drive. The above video contains massively zoomed-in closeups of the object, so you can judge for yourself.https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-truth-is-here-at-last-manta-ray-ufo-spotted-over-1729614418 (https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-truth-is-here-at-last-manta-ray-ufo-spotted-over-1729614418)

The map is upside-down.
Map of Mars if it had the same water levels as Earth including Australia: see attached
The map is upside-down.
That's what you think - but what if the universe is actually the other way up?
This is the way the Earth is supposed to be viewed...

Except that is Olympus Mons volcano
One of the terrific side story scenes is the Slingshot racer Y Q and its pilot Maneos.
Oh and probably the second best cover of Highway Star by Deep Purple ever (after the Chickenfoot versions) , lyrics in Belter Creole language.Da adewu de im tugut!

Ah, you've been brushing up on your Beltese! Maneo's exit was an incredibly...abrupt end to his race to the ring.
found on DeviantArt - 3D printed spaceship by Arthiarn Gaming -- US$250 - very loooong delivery unfortunately.
Found on Twitter. Is it just me, or does the Prometeus on "For All Mankind" look to be inspired by this?
The text in the post: Chris Kraft lamented the retirement of the Space Shuttle and thought we should have moved forward with the overall design and fixed its fundamental issues instead. Indeed, the Block II changes would have significantly mitigated many of STS's most pressing shortcomings.

That looks like a 40m Orion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclear_propulsion)) vs a Daedalus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Daedalus).
