"Captain America: The First Avenger" Hydra Parasite...in 1/48! Woohoo!!!
Will definitely be getting one of these! I am tempted to do it as a civilian aircraft though.
-
Also coming in 2013:
Soviet LK Moon Lander (1969)
-
I expect that the Hydra is mastered by the gent on the Ma.K site who has already scratch-built a few similar craft. His work is top notch if quite expensive.
-
Many new kits added to the FP future release calender here (http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/gift_shop.htm). I want the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier in both 1/72 for me and 1/48 for Greg.

I'd love to own their X-15D ($75) (http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/X-15DCatalogPage.htm) and the S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet (http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/AvengersQuinjetCatalogPage.htm).

I may have to get the Gunstar -- with a choice of 72nd, 100th & 144th kits at the same price, I'll have to study the contents & availability options.

The saucer might make an interesting diorama if loaded onto an aircraft carrier of the same scale...
-
The XRV would look good atop a Titan III, either single-stack or triple-stack with solid-rocket boosters.
-
Which version of "The Thing" is the saucer from?
I like the look of the XRV.
-
Which version of "The Thing" is the saucer from?
That's a good question, the "original" with James Arness as the alien "monster" or the remake by John Carpenter that was far closer to the original source material, John W. Campbell's classic "Who Goes There?" (there's some interesting personal history in the inspiration for Campbell's story).

Man that's ugly! I mean it's credible (ish) but jeez..........

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I actually liked the design, but then again, I liked the look of the BV-141... ::)

Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" & that scene led into the musical scene "Every Sperm is Sacred". ;D
-
Yes, as a matter of fact, a few days ago I became "teenager-less" when my daughter turned 20. The last day of her being 19 was celebrated by mutual yelling of "You don't understand me" and "Go to your room!". It was our last time to have a father-teenager event, we laughed for a good five minutes afterward!

Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" & that scene led into the musical scene "Every Sperm is Sacred". ;D
Just got back from seeing "Monty Python Live (Mostly)". A sort-of-live/delayed simulcast from London of the new Monty Python stage show. That was one of the songs in the show and it's still damned good, even today. It was fun to see all the old sketches redone, live and despite the occasional fumble such as Eric Idle's moustache coming off in the Nudge, nudgle, wink, wink, sketch (which he handled very well, by simply pausing and fully removing it before continuing). However what struck was how much they have all aged and in some ways how sad it was that they were still doing the same stuff they'd been doing 25+ years ago. If you're a fan, its worth seeing, if nothing more for the ad libs. 8)

A-57 >> Reference material says 260ft long.
130ft as 1/72 would still be a big jet flying boat.
Looks to need a calm sea state.

Agreed. I love it but can't explain why.
-
Tempted to do the A-57 as a high speed, civilian luxury flying boat airliner. Maybe in Aeroflot scheme dropping bigwigs to Cuba...

Yeah. Pity about the scale though.

I might get one so I can build my 1/72 model. Got most of the parts for it already.

Between Fantastic Plastic, Anigrad and Real Space, I've spent likely 5 years of discretionary funds on resin in the last month.
I'm sure it was all a good idea.

Message from Allen:
Fantastic Plastic Models Re-Release Survey 2017
Over the past few years, we have received dozens of requests (and orders) for many of our "retired" kits. With the exception of our "Star Wars"-related products -- which we can no longer sell due to that pesky 2009 C&D from LucasFilm -- we are happy to bring these classic kits out of retirement...if demand is sufficient to justify the costs of a new production run.
Which retired kits would you like to see back in the Virtual Museum Store? Here's your chance to tell us.
The linked survey below -- which appears on our website -- lists the retired kits we regularly get requests for. Look over the list and vote for your favorite(s). Yes, you can vote for more than one.
http://fantastic-plastic.com/re-release-survey.html (http://fantastic-plastic.com/re-release-survey.html)
A kit needs at least 50 votes to be considered viable for resurrection. Please, only cast a vote if you are serious about buying the kit within the next 12 months. This is the only way we can make an economically sound decision.
Please submit your choice(s) before June 15, 2017.
Until then...

Who made this Greg?
-
Not sure who assembled it. It is shows test shots of the kit though.

For those with deep pockets, you can always use this as the start of a Stratos 4 "MS" version that's air-launched from under the wing of a B-60.

Bugger!! This was available from Fantastic Plastic:
Until they got hit with a Cease and Desist letter from 20th Century Fox ordering us to remove the 1:1400 Orville kit from the Fantastic Plastic Virtual Museum Store.
-
More than a bit of a bugger, however, it's always a risk when dealing with mass media subjects.
It would be nice, yet naïve of me, to hope that one day a media company would be willing to establish a flexible licensing scheme whereby truly penny-ante things like resin models, which will never have more than a few hundred (if very lucky) made for a dedicated fan base who generally proselytise the show like mad, can pay a truly nominal sum which satisfies the need to assert copyright, yet allow these small items to continue to be made for that fan base.
Certainly the existence of 1-200 resin models is not going to impact the potential market for, say, a styrene kit of the same subject, yet the licensing schemes treat them the same, thus shutting out the small guy on subject where no larger licensor may ever show up in that market.
I'd bet a bunch of money that Alan would have been very happy to pay a 1-5 buck fee on each model to use the design and we'd be happy to pay it to get a model of the "mid-level Exploratory Vessel". And, if an injection company were to put out a kit of said model, we'd all run out an buy at least one of those, too.
Such a pity. I understand why. Setting up a license agreement with a small guy, like Fantastic Plastic, wouldn't garner a net return to even cover the cost of the lawyer writing the letter, much less drafting a proper agreement, so it's far faaaaar easier and cheaper to simply shut the small guys down.
But the advertising benefits of the word of mouth for shows like this is never considered and given the ground swell social media exposure good builds get, it's not out of hand to wonder if they are not doing themselves an actual disservice by this approach.
Oh well, one can dream.
Paul

Via Allen Ury.
Like the rest of America, Fantastic Plastic Models is hunkering down, taking all prudent precautions while we wait for the COVID-19 pandemic to pass. It's likely to be a while.
For those of us who prefer to see the glass as half full, these desperate times provide a unique opportunity to enjoy our hobby of choice. In this spirit, I'm offering FREE SHIPPING to U.S. customers on all orders placed between today and March 20 (my emphasis).
PayPal will still charge you for shipping, but I'll refund the charge when I ship. For all international customers, no additional postage costs will be requested beyond what PayPal charges. (For some odd reason, PayPal seriously undercharges for international shipments, usually $15.00 when the USPS international minimum is actually around $24.00.)
So stay safe. Wash your hands. And ration that toilet paper.

X# for 1/72
It appears to be from what I remember. It looks like it's set up for four ejection seats rather than the three the B-2 was set up for (not that, TTBOMK, the third seat was ever fitted to any of them).

The interesting thing is that it was still to have been sub-sonic (albeit just below Mach 1) and yet it looks so much faster:

If it was in 1/72 at least one could put it alongside this one for a more complete alternative stealth history:

Wasn’t there a plan to build giant rockets, tow them out to sea, flood some tank to make it float upright and then launch it? Sounds like perhaps it was that sea dragon. Talk about water pollution!!

Like the U Boat towed V2 Platform ?

Seeing all those "Stealth" releases is spooky, during a current cleanup I found the old Italeri 1/72 SR75 Penetrator and Thunderdart kit. Forgot how big that was.

Carl W./The Big Gimper is looking for a Thunderdart if you are looking to get rid of it...

INteresting, the same engines as the "as manufactured" B-2A and the same nominal crew (looks like they had provisions for adding two more crew members, much as the B-2A has provisions for adding one more). Since the B-2A was originally intended to be a high-altitude design, up until the major redesign in '83-'84, I could almost see the two designs as being complimentary and sharing a lot of systems commonality.

Give it lift engines ala Griffith's VTOL airliner concept and say it's the source of the triangle UFO sightings. ;D :icon_fsm:

Fantastic Plastic Models
I am pleased to report that Fantastic Plastic now has the formal cooperation of both Dr. Harold "Sonny" White of Limitless Space and celebrated conceptual artist Mark Rademaker in the development of the 1:350 scale "IXS Enterprise" NASA warp ship kit. Masters for the kit -- being developed by our resident aerospace expert, Scott Lowther -- will now be based on authentic 3D meshes from Mr. Rademaker himself!
The kit is now in its early development stages, but I hope to have it out by the end of the year. I continue to take reservations at FantasticPlast@aol.com.

I can see this being the basis for a small space interceptor

That's slightly different (more elongated) than the one I made (in 1/72). I also have Winchell Chung's design, which is similar to mine

Fantastic Plastic Models NEW KIT ANNOUNCEMENT!
The first kit in our 1:700 Post-Saturn Super-Booster Collection is now in the Virtual Museum Store! Collection #1 contains the massive Convair Super Nexus (8 inch tall) and an in-scale Saturn V (6.5 inches tall) for reference. The kit contains 30 pieces total -- both pressure-cast and 3D printed resin -- including two display stands -- plus two full decal sheets for detailing.
This is the first of a planned four sets of two models each, for a total of eight 1:700 scale models representing some of the most aggressive concepts of the Apollo-era period of American spacecraft design.

It's interesting to see that proposal, I was under the impression that the Skunk Works had come up with a unique shape with their F-117 but here we see something very similar. Was this angular shape a requisite put out by an USAF requirement or something?

Annoying scale, but I love The Time Travelers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Time_Travelers_(1964_film)). Actually deals with time travel paradoxes well.

Ohh... very tempting. MCRN ships from The Expanse are nifty. However I am pretty sure the price will temper any need to have this.

More accurate than the old Lindberg kit ? ???
-
This ship comes from Von Barun's Across the Space Frontier (https://socks-studio.com/2012/07/22/across-the-space-frontier-1952/) from 1952. The Lindberg model seems to be a "whif" turning it into a lunar lander. Here it's turned back into the round-the-moon-ship (https://oikofuge.com/lindberg-1-96-moon-ship-revised/)
I found a 1/400 scale version on Shapeways and asked the designer to upload a version in 1/350 scale. It printed OK, but it's extremely fragile.
-
I notice that one of the thrusters is cracked, in the parts lay-out of the Fantastic Plastic version.
