Hallo everybody,
first of all I apologize for not being present for such a long time in the forum, but modeling has suffered a stop over the whole front for months for many reasons, not only this covid craze but many health problems of me and my wife that are partly still there...
OK I don't want to complain any further and I am so glad this Sunday morning I sat at the bench and started a new fantasy project: the TARASQUE!
The Tarasque is a "fearsome legendary dragon-like mythological hybrid from Provence, in southern France" (source: Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarasque))
It is (was?) then turned into a "machine" used during Pentecost in Tarascon to amuse people watching the celebrations in the street

My wife last winter dismissed this gorgeous mouse completely covered by glittering diamonds and I took it because it suggested me the body of the Tarasque.

Then I found the carts on a stand selling things for the Nativity Scenes in a Christmas market in Ferrara (Italy) last December

And bought a few months ago this lion-headed figure from ebay:

I also found on the pavement near my house this piece, reminding me of a sort of dragon's wings... I am not sure I will use it but it's on the bench and we'll see what to do with it

I started drilling the mouse to let the wheels axles pass through:

cut off the wheels from the carts and dry fitted them on the provisional axles

cut the lionhead from the figure and provisionally fitted on the body

Work on the wheels, I found these cogwheels that I will use as a transmission from the engine to the rear wheels (I decided to make this vehicle a steam powered one)

The Netflix show Warrior Nun has a Tarasque (Tarask for them) as the key nemesis. Totally changed the traits of the Demon.
Really like this work, using the legendary image as inspiration

Looks medieval! If the insides are intact, you can add a battery (3V to 5V) and light up the LED inside the mouse.

I tried to open it but I couldn't, there are two screws and one has the head ruined so it can't be unscrewed.
I'll use this great led idea for next project with the car shaped mouse

The Tarask you talk about is totally different but for sure the authors chose that name knowing of this Tarasque...
I start from that old photo as inspiration but there will be meaningful differences, Ill show them in the next days!

Thanks for commenting guys, I have built from scratch and some plasticard two funnels for the steam engine that will go in between the funnels covering the center wheel of the mouse.

I imagined a housing for the external engine mechanisms

The cogwheels on the rear axle were a bit too small to match the wheels on the axle coming out of the engine slot, so I changed them:

the copper ones will go on the engine axle and the darker ones will go beside the real wheels:

Thanks finsrin, to be honest I am not sure either about the paint scheme, indeed I will use a lot of metallic shades, but sometimes I'm tempted not to paint all those diamonds on the back of the vehicle...

Hi folks,
some short sessions during the week and the steam engine is ready, of course totally scratch built.
The shortest stem is the piston moved by the steam (it's located in the rear part of the engine housing)

I decided to use the dragon wings as cannon holders (a first coat of Tamiya metallic grey has been laid on the lower half of the hull)

On the spot where the two funnels will be placed I put a sort of platform to have a flat floor, it has been painted as well with Tam Metallic Grey as the rim of the hole where the mouse wheel was)
I must decide how to glue the cannon holders on the back of the mouse, maybe I need to remove a couple of diamond rows...

That's fantastic! What did you use for the faded/worn brass (on the cannon and the drive gear)? Rub N' Buff or similar wax paint?

The cannon and the cogwheels are metallic parts bought as you see them. The cannon is a naval modeling intem, the wheels are from a pack bought at greenstuff.
The deck overall color is obtained mixing some Tamiya X33 Bronze (from a half dry jar) with X12 Gold Leaf.
The "belly" colour is made laying a couple of coats of tamiya metallic grey XF56 with a X33 drybrush tapping all over.
