Which translates as "Four legged"

Its the older Hasegawa kit in 1/72. Which is a very nice series, many of the later varients have
parts for the original issue as well as the for the particular varient on the box art. This one, for instance,
has the original turret, and additional road wheels.

It needs some small details and paint...I'm leaning toward black.... ;) I'm also thinking of putting a
remote MG or a brace of smoke/AP grenades on the lower edge of the front plate. Thanks for looking.

Wow! :)
-
how about a belly turret like those found on ww2 bombers so you can keep troops from runnin underneath an stikin a bomb on it?
-
@ Arkon-not a bad idea, but I think the arc of fire would be kind of limited. If it were something bigger ( like
a tiger, or Maus...) a smaller version of the Kugelblitz turret on the front plate might be interesting. I'll give
it some thought-thanks!
@Greg-Thanks!

Cool design! (http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m309/ChernayaAkula/Emoticons/70.gif)
<...> so you can keep troops from runnin underneath an stikin a bomb on it?
Or some chap in an orange flight suit with grappling hook and a weapon with a blade made of focused light.... Oh, wait, that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

...but it does make me think about putting it in a diorama with an intrepid young comrade in a super-aerosan...
aiiiiiiieeeee. My brain! Too many ideas! too many ideas!

Excellent building!! :-*

Later that same day...
A long, long time ago in a Great Patriotic War far, far away...

A bit of sheet plastic for the body, skis from the Mirage X-7/ Pupchen kit, and the engine from
the old Revell I-16...needs a winter whitewash and some tiny red stars.
EDIT: This 'timing out' in the space a of a few minutes typing is getting a little old, though. ???
In the time it took me to type this, no less.

This is quite interesting, me likey...yes :-*

Great builds Dr. What did you use for the legs?
-
Zod-
The legs on the Vierbeiner are sheet plastic. I wanted something ( vaguely ) approximating a real
Panther's legs, so I cut a template, used that to trace onto more sheet, cut them and sandwiched them in
a clamp, sanded them all to uniformity, and built them up the thickness with lengths of black strip styrene.
( I have pounds of the latter-we got them four to a box when we were still doing cassette duplication at
work. ) The pivot covers are roadwheels from an old,old Fujimi 1/76 PzKw IV. The feet were built up of
the same black strip, and the top 'flanges' are short sections of evergreen angle iron.

Yee gads -- both are so creative and cool. Super duper 8)
-
Craig - this is a great find - the original miniatures from "The People's Heroic War Amongst the Red Stars: The Fascist Capitalist War Mongers Strike Back"!
Seriously - this is inspired. The snowspeeder aerosan looks great, although I imagine many were turned into hamburger borscht falling off that high seat into the prop.
-
see? evan a small 1 or 2 gun turret with a "leg interupter" gear and you could smash these capitolist pigs
-
Thanks for all the kind words fellas-"Red Star Wars" is being inspired, Comrade Frank!
I spent a little time looking up Russian Recoilless guns-even in this internet age, there isn't a whole
lot out there. But I found a couple of images that were better than than the one small image I had
seen years ago in Infantry, Moutain, and Airborne Guns ( I think John Batchelor was the author )
and thats what the aerosan gets for the big outboard guns. Also is getting propeller guard-cannot have
brave young Red Pioneers being turned into Borscht ( or Piroshki filling ! ) by Glorious Soviet Teknologgy!
-
Yowsa Doc, you never cease to amaze! I really like that little prop driven snow buggy!

Progress!

Both builds are about 90% complete-The Vb gets a few wires and an mv lens for the faux IR gear, the Aerosan gets paint and the
dio gets...snow. Barely visible below the nose of the Vb is the lower turret, from an old Fujimi PzKw II, along with a cut down
section of the decking. Better pictures next week.
and the basic dio set up.

Very nice! Catty enough to qualify as a four-legged Panther but kinda armoured insectiod too :)
-
That first pic reminds me of the saying "Better to be the stomper than the stompee."
Nice work, Doc!

That setup looks great. ;)
-
That's class: I love it! ;D :icon_jedi:
-
Wow how big is all that?! :D
-
given the snow I guess it's HoHoHo scale ?
Both the aerosan & walker are tops :o
great ideas !!
