Late last month the team posted a photo of a Lancaster on Facebook, apologising for the delays with their 1/32 kit but assuring us it is coming.

Intriguingly, two head-on shots of (probably RAF and likely Spey-powered) Phantoms have been posted in the last week or two, without explanation...  :-*

EDIT: Jennings at ARC, whom some of you may know, has had communication from HK and confirms a 1/32 Spey Phantom is in the works. And apparently one of the Phantom photos I mentioned is actually a Luftwaffe F-4F.

Hello, I am very happy to tell you that the production sample of B-17EF just finished. That is the most complicated production ever. This release consist of 44 spures, 3 markings decal sheets, resin casting ammo track, PE, instructions. Totally gross weight of one kit is 3.2kgs. It is very heavy kit, isn't it. By the way, We are so sorry for the postpone of release schedule. We will do our best to ensure the quality and release 1/32 B-17E/F within Oct.

1⁄32 Dambuster Lanc Conversion from Iconair

Iconair is working a 1/32 scale on a conversion set so you can create a LancasterB.III (Special) Dambuster
”A few shots of the master parts that have been CNC machined out for the 1:32 Dambusters Lancaster conversion kit.”

I’m presuming this is for the Hong Kong kit as there aren’t many 1/32 scale Lancaster kits around

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE

My Dad, who served in 617 Sqn at the time they were using Grand Slams told me the sqn codes were yellow with a red border (the predominantly red codes weren't very visible during daytime and the Grand Slam Lancs only operated during the day) . And they always flew in a gaggle of Tallboy bombers because they didn't have a navigator or his station on board (one of the 'weight saving' measures they applied)

I've never seen a WW2 era Lancaster without black undersides!

There are photos of the prototype Grand Slam Lanc which did have black undersides. But all the raids were done during daytime because the crews had to see their targets. If they couldn't see either the primary or secondary targets, they had to bring the bombs back because they were too valuable just to off load, that and there wasn't very many of them. My Dad was an Instrument Fitter on 'C' Flight, his repair shack was near the end of the runway which the bombers used when bringing back their load, my Dad had to evacuate to a slit trench whenever they did bring one back.
