Hello!
Time for my first WIP here. This project began few years ago , I think in 2007. Then a sudden lack of will to finish it and my battleship was takin’ dust for over 5 years. Two weeks ago , along with award on the contest for Anakin’s Pod Racer , the will and force had return :D Now I’ll finish it, I’m sure of in 99% :)
Anyway…let me introduce you…ORP (SRP in English –Ship of Republic of Poland) “Judgement Day” – polish battleship of XXI century , armed with conventional guns and cannons, two cannons stabilized with gyroscopes and one gauss cannon, AA missiles, torpedoes and four nuclear missile launchers. Battleship also carries one UCAV,4 Marlin interceptors and 36 W-66 “Werewolf” attack helicopters.
I’ll translate whiff story from polish to English but now I’ll concentrate on building my little ship :)
Here is the topic I began on ARC:
http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=205880&st=0&p=1951612&hl=judgement%20day&fromsearch=1&#entry1951612 (http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=205880&st=0&p=1951612&hl=judgement%20day&fromsearch=1&#entry1951612)
I'll post new photos here when I'll get back home :)

Wicked

Nice stuff !!
-
THAT IS FREAKIN AWESOME :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Very cool indeed! :)
-
Thanks :) I bought laser cut paper railings and today I'll order set of Trumpeter's Su-35 in 1:350 to make Marlin fighters :)

Your detail work is astonishing!
Brian da Basher

What did you use to make the gauss cannon ? I recognise it from somewhere.... :icon_nif:

In my stash I found parts from toy set called "ROBOMAC". There were nice mech legs , radar's antennas and guns. One of guns became gauss cannon and two others serve as gyroscope stabilized guns.
-
Move out, Yamato!!!! ORP "Judgement Day" rules!!!
-
Not enough guns I think :) Nice job however !!
-
"ROBOMAC" !! YEES i used to have loads of that as a kid !
-
A little progress today...because glue has ended too fast...
First of all, deck looks now more like one part. Scotch self-adhesive foil is awesome :) I don't have place now to make a better photo:
...and with use of flash (the scotch is reflective :D )
I also worked on main mast:
...and WoMM launcher/silo :D

Hello everyone :)
Today I ordered 1:700 Admiral Vinogradov by Kitech = a lot of spare parts for my ship:) Now I'm waiting for it ...a little progress:

Movable silo doors and anchor chains ("Battleship chains" by Georgia Satellites <---great song :) ) were the worst part of today's work.
-
The operational doors are pretty cool. The anchor chains look terrific. :)
-
As my buddy Toolslinger says, you can never have too many guns!
I'm really liking where this one is going!
Brian da Basher
-
As my buddy Toolslinger says, you can never have too many guns!
THERE WILL BE more guns for sure :)
Anyway here is the beginning of "COME'ON !! LIVE!!!" procedure :D

CRIKEY !! i didnt realise this was gonna be a remote ! Great scott !!
-
Oh yeah! I see the Legos ;)
-
Whoa, whoa, WHOA. Remote controlled? Damn, that's kicking it up a notch. Or two. I drink a beer in your honor!
-
You, sir, are totally taking this to the next level.
Apparently, your whiffing ability surpasses 11.
You're seeking help for this, right? ;)
Outstanding!!!
Brian da Basher
-
I thought we were the "help" ?!?
-
Crackin' good in concept and execution so far. There's a couple of things I might have done
differently, but thats just aesthetics. Looking forward to seeing her in paint and on the water!

I wonder , in what scale "whiffing ability" is count? :D Thanks for your comment :)
Any help will be appreciated :)

Well , I need to buy simple RC aparature because I realised that this "wonder of modern electronic" from RC toy car is completely useless in my battleship I hope I'll buy it today or next week.
I' pretty sure that I just don't see bad points of my model cause I see it every day... so can you tell me something about these "couple of things" ? :) Any suggestion will be appreciated :)
I finished work with airplanes (converted Su-33 by Trumpeter 1:350) and added more guns. I'll add photos today or tommorow :)
-
Hello!
A few guns were added , two Marlin interceptors and a lot of deck and superstructure stuff :)

Love the old school smooth bore cannon !
-
Sent your ship pictures to a Naval Intelligence friend for evaluation.
If agents show up at your door - thatz why.
I like it a bunch. What is the tube structure at stern? All I can think off is a big time smoke generator.
-
Excellent build

I don't know if I'll name it properly but it's a deep charge launcher.

That muzzle-loader on wheels is the icing on the cake! Looks almost ready for action!

Brian da Basher
Thanks :) But there is a long way to action. First of all I have to make rudder and cooling work. I hope I'll finish working on it this week. Then railings and other small parts and finally painting and weathering.
I think about that camo...probably tribute to survived polish destroyer - ORP Lighting

Artoor-
Sorry for the late response- you asked-
I' pretty sure that I just don't see bad points of my model cause I see it every day... so can you tell me something about these "couple of things" ?
Really, its one thing-the rail gun. to my eye, it looks...out of place. When I look at it, I see a much smaller gun ( like a submarine deck gun, or the bow gun on something like a corvette ) greatly enlarged. Its a look that seems out of synch with the look of the rest
of the ship's ordnance. Something like a hood, or turret, over the assembly, might add to the sense of mass and presence.
I really like the Marlins, and the muzzle-loader is great! ( A muzzle-loading Wave motion gun, perhaps? ) Looking forward to the rest of the build!

Maybe you're right , I'll try to do something with gauss gun. Muzzle loader is a kind of "celebration" cannon, you know , shoot on beginning and ending of mission etc :)
-
Finally! The beast is alive :D Today propulsion tests took place :) Results? I have to remember that I should swim with no more than 1/3 of power. If not... battleship will transform itself into something with speed close to torpedo boat :) Sorry for no photos from tests :)
Top secret photos of propulsion and steering devices :D

It Lives! It lives!
Great bashing/scratching. I love the depth charge ejector. Looks like an angry alien insect's ovipositor tube.

Hello!
Last photos before painting. I've added funnels for shafts because of strong vibrations coming from transmission. Also added railings and removed gaps beetween superstructure and deck:

So...again I have to built a model as fast as possible. It should be ready for 26 febuary. I hope I'm able to do it. I'll try to continue with my DESERT WARFARE GB project but finishing JUDGEMENT DAY is my primary target. OK , stern deck:
Anyway, I don't know why this topic is in SF category...This is still ship , I think :) If not , then OK :)

Sorry for this photo ,I can't do it from different angle 'cause this thing is too big :)

Anyway, I don't know why this topic is in SF category...This is still ship , I think
I can't speak for the moderators, but I suspect that it might have something to do with the
gigantic DEATH-RAY on the bow.... ;)
Looking better every time, friend - good luck with the finishing!
-
If you want it treated as a water borne beast, I am happy to move it.
-
You're going to add a few more guns, right?
Hate to have it go out under-armed like that. ;)
Looks great!
Brian da Basher

:-* Tell me about that fighter looking aircraft aft of the big structure
-
I am curious, does it float, fly or both?

Well , this is scratchbuilt UCAV. It was build by my friend without conotations with any real or sf subject.
I am curious, does it float, fly or both?
Only float :)

Strange how red color changes ship :)

Sooooo excessive and sooooo cool 8)
Is impressive --- and powered too :o
As they said in the Navy "Well Done". Is also said at restaurants.

That red paint always makes a ship stand out to me.
I'm happy to see another update to this wonderful project!

Tommorow model contest in Bytom, Silesia starts. "Judgement Day" will be there. Now it's packed and ready to travel there. Maybe in the evening it'll be "fully operational" and I'll make some photos just before the contest :) Wish her luck (and me maybe too :) ). I also take my Polish Do-335 only to make JMN's mad :D

As promised:photo from contest

Putting it next to another ship really puts the size and impressiveness into perspective. :)

I've got to agree. You built a real leviathan there artoor!
One of the best ship builds I've seen lately! Outstanding!

Awaiting that video oh yes siree !!

Due to icing on near lake launching is delayed for undetermined time :(

That's disappointing news, artoor. And if you took the time to convert it to an ice-breaker, by then the lake would thaw.

To borrow form an old rock song, "There won't be any standing, come the "Judgement Day"..."
Exceedingly beautiful and very real looking in the water.
Thank you :)
I don't know this song. What is the title ? Google doesn't help this time.

You're not thinking of " One Tin Soldier" are you? It has the line: "There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day" in it:
