Grumman OV-1 Mohawk Ideas and Inspiration
« on: April 01, 2012, 06:43:15 AM »
Folks,

A thread for your Grumman OV-1 Mohawk Ideas and Inspiration.

To begin with, here are some great profiles Damian did a while back:

I am going to model one of the RAAF one in 1/48.

What other ideas do you have?

Regards,

Greg

In addition to Customs & USCG, I did a swag of Venezuelan AF, RAAF & RNZAF Mohawks back in the day.

OV-1 looks right for bashing into AV-1 attack plane.  Bigger engines.  Gobs of firepower.

Grumman Design 134E, four GE T58s or four Lycoming T53.

There was also a lift-fan 'M' wing Mohawk proposed, GE X-353-5 lift engines were to be buried in the wings.

Take the SLAR pod and rig it up as a 30mm gun pod.

Grumman also did a study for a tandem seat AV-1 that retained much commonality with the standard OV-1.  I'll have to find the references, but I'm thinking I could use the cockpit and nose section of a Pucara for modelling purposes.

ATK wants to add, among other stuff, a 30mm M230 Chain Gun to the Mohawk for COIN operations. LINK
