C-45J
« on: April 27, 2020, 03:56:10 PM »
DH Heron Medivac by Robomog somehow inspired me (can't explain it) to do kit-bash of a similar type aircraft.   Browsed stash and came up with three kits.   Started with a concept of parts to use.   After closer parts study revised configuration.   After fiddling with parts considering that configuration decided another significant change was in order.

Attached picture of hamster Fufu and three kits.   Fufu hangs out with me during many build sessions.   We sip green tea, munch snacks, and listen to tunes while model building.   Fufu sometimes watches from my shoulder.

Thanks for caution advice about ericr.   You guys are sharp.
Done some wing cutting for wings to be half-n-half span from one kit and another.

Main effort lately is stash maintenance.   Finding-sorting-boxing kits in backyard model building (referred to as HQ) to move duplicates to off site garages.   Objective is to make counter space for displaying built models.   Hopefully do large 1/72 diorama with areas for airfield parking, water area for gunboats etc, and highish ground for buildings, vehicles, gun emplacements, missile launchers and related.   Over weekend and today took two station wagon loads of kits to garages.   Is progress but much more to do.

Cutting & gluing starts.  P-3 wings will go on C-45 fuselage at normal mounting place.   Happens to be good match.   They will be one engine wings with C-45 wing outside of C-45 engine as outer wing.
C-45 has total of 900 hp.   Scaled down P-3 engines figure & look good as 2000 hp for 4000 hp total.  Could use all engines for 8000 hp and clipped wings or not.   Settled on 900 going to 4000 hp as plenty.

See attached wing picture.
