Title: Amiot 143 Touring
Post by: Timcat on July 18, 2016, 01:00:54 AM
During the long peace of the 1940's the French government sold old bombers to individuals.  Some of the Amiot 143's were converted to touring aircraft.  The slowness and large windows of the aircraft were advantages for touring.  The conversion involved lengthening the fwd and aft fuselage and adding seats.  The bomb bay was converted to a restroom.  The aircraft had some problems. It could only carry 6 passengers. The cabin was very narrow making movement forward and aft difficult.  Also, the pilot's forward visibility was very poor, especially on the ground.

Interesting concept and the inclusion of spats on your Amiot will make several people happy as they are big fans of spats on aircraft.  :)

I thought the first set of pictures were artist concepts from the 1930s... looks period-accurate (weird, ugly-beautiful) French.

The model does not qualify for the GB because I started it on April 1 and finished it on June 19.  So consider it display only.
