Asking Google Pictures "twin-fuselage spacecraft", I have been surprised that the main subject was the terrestrial Space Ship 2. Well, this is already Space, yes. PSS-38:

Of course, the Space Shuttle may be another inspiration but it is too big. The Space Chaser/Dream Chaser at http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn24950-mini-space-shuttle-gears-up-to-chase-astronaut-dreams.html may be more appropriate a source:

And from the TV "Space-1999" I have imagined spatial P-38 VTOL:

(this is not serious: nobody knows what the future will be, in the year 1999...)

The use of aircraft for Mars exploration has been worked on for some time:

http://quest.nasa.gov/aero/planetary/MarsAir.html

AME (Airplane for Mars Exploration) NASA Ames, unpowered flights were very successful,
an attempt at powered flight at high altitude failed after the aircraft broke up, the cause
was believed to be the gyroscopic forces caused by the very large propeller required by
the thin atmosphere.

Thanks a lot jcf for this detailed source about extraterrestrial planes (I am very happy of the twin-boom design revival on this occasion!).

Thanks jcf, you explained the mystery of the Miles-Lockheed MI-38, with its giant propellers: this was an airplane for Mars exploration!:

Back to "seriousness": 22nd century technology is based on remote nuclear jets lighted by solar panels...

I really like the yellow one with the solar panels. The nice, bright sunny colors you used were an excellent choice!

You know, these Space-Lightnings were the first ones, but since the year 2138, magnetic propulsion has replaced jet (little) force:

I try to keep seriousness but it is not easy: the P-38EM Excursion Module (or LEM: Lightning Excursion Module) was a fake that never landed on the Moon in 1939 despite the film "proof"...
