A.C Su-33 - Hasegawa 1/72
« on: May 26, 2014, 11:08:21 AM »
Greetings everyone

Whilst I continue to wait for more hex rod from the only place in Melbourne who appears to stock it, I thought I would do a quick build.

;D Well, OK, the building was quick but the masking took 4 full days.

I loved the scheme on this when I saw it for the first time online a couple of months ago, so I thought I would have a crack

I think it turned out alright. It looks like it's supposed too, so I can't complain. It won't win any competitions, but I don't mind.

Feel free to lay down any constructive feedback

Thanks for looking

Don't have much to say apart from amazing build and finish!!! :) :)
Your paint finish is museum quality, sorta Russian, but hey, brilliant!!

Thanks fellas
Not 100% sure on what style of painting "Russian" is but I am taking it as a compliment  :D

Tonight, not sure why, but I have dug out of hiding the BSG Galactica that I started a year or so ago and have continued doing some more digging out of spaces and am thinking I might resurrect it
Recent viewings of the Pegasus have rekindled my spark for the BSG ships. But I am going to tone down the level of detail I'll put into it

Thank you very much guys, glad you like it.  Its funny, I've always maintained that my painting skills are lacking. I'm not getting a big ego trip, but it feels unusual to me that its the paint work that is more the success than the building   :D

Same here!

As someone who spent long hours playing this game, you absolutely nailed this. ITS BETTER in fact, It has more detail than the in game machine. The base is top notch too.  :-* Best Yellow 13 in any medium I have ever seen

Awesome build!  :) The fact that it's an in-flight build boosts its coolness factor by at least two!  :icon_beer:

Your build is incredible, I love it. Good job  :)

thanks mate

Tell you what, if you PM me your address, I'll send you the rest of the decal sheet from this one. I only used the basic stencils and just the markings needed for Yellow 13. You can build up to 4 different aircraft I think. There's numbers on their as well, so you can create any plane you want really. I'll even send you a colour copy of the instruction sheet which has the overall splinter camo design so you can do it 'right'
As for the standard stencils, you'll get them included in what ever kit you end up buying.

Hahaha, no. Any talent I have doesn't extend to producing decals. I don't even have a printer.
No, this is just another one of Hasegawa's range of AC aircraft and they give you the Emerian markings.

wow - bit of a blast from the past (so to speak)
Sorry for my delay in responding - I havent been into this part of the forum for a while now
Thanks very much for the kind words fellas - greatly apreciated
It didn't place at all in Expo this year - but that wasn't really a surprise given the quality of the other entires. Still, I'm happy with how it came out and it sits next to it's brother 33 in a WIF "artic" style splinter camo
