Hi team,
The other day a care package arrived from a fellow forum member and inside, among other things, was a 1/72 A-7 Corsair II. I'm torn as to what to do with it so I thought I'd you! I've found French, West German and Israeli decals which should do the job (coincidentally all options GTX put out in the Ideas and Inspiration thread) so what say you?

EDIT: I've also added a USN commemorative scheme as per kerick's inspired post below.

EDIT EDIT: title changed to reflect the winner!

Tough to choose. All good ones.

These are two options I have for my A-7.

Single colour for easy painting.

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Hi Zac,

I've voted IDFAF, but if it were me (and decals were no object) I'd go with any of the numerous A7 schemes that Richard "Gekko Decals" added to his profile thread.

Seriously difficult to pick a favourite!

How about US Navy dark blue, light blue and white? Some sort of commemorative scheme? I know, I’m not helping………
All are good choices but I lean towards German navy.

I'd go for one of the German options, either a Luftwaffe one in this sort of scheme:

Or a Marineflieger version in this sort of scheme:

But you can make the Bastard work for it.

No, that's a fantastic suggestion! I've reset the votes and added that as a suggestion.

GTX shared several of those in the A-7 thread and I agree, a few were mighty tempting! Unfortunately I am limited in my decal choice

I'd go for one of the German options
Those are precisely what I envisaged!

An alternate Luftwaffe scheme (if you have the decals) might be something like the G.91 markings:

Perhaps the G.91s were replaced early by A-7s?

Classic Marineflieger is always a nice choice.  8)
Wall-to-wall Kormorans? Flying over the North Sea or the Baltic from airfields in Northern Germany, external fuel shouldn't be necessary. Six Kormorans would look awesome! Though four plus a Tornado's ECM and chaff pods would also be great.
Cheers,

Ah. Now that's a good point. When I see my girlfriend at Christmas I'll see if I have anything that fits the bill as all my spares boxes were left at her place...I'm not sure if I have anything but I shall hunt!

If you have Taurus cruise missiles and Iris-T air-to-air missiles in your spares box, then maybe you can whiff it into a modernized variant.

Say the Marinefleiger kept the fast jet role and their A-7 fleet got a life extending modernization package:

Glass cockpit (partial at least)
Weapon stations 4 and 5 rewired to take Iris-T missiles, but remain Sidewinder capable.
Weapon stations 2,3,6 and 7 rewired to take Taurus cruise missiles. Stations 2 and 6 maintain ability to take refueling pod.
Weapon stations 1 and 8 rewired for BOZ countermeasures pods.

I think 2 Kormorans would be max practical.  Perhaps a pair of sidewinders and some chaff/flares/jammer as well.

Thank you Greg, those are terrific inspiration!

I now have the bits all I need (must test the decals before progressing further) except Kormorans: I will put out a call for a pair of as I've a very, very strong feeling I have none.

Oh, well, at least I now know what to do with my spare A-7K (2-seater). ;)
And now I have something to look forward to  Please keep us posted, Guy!

What is this 'practical' you speak of? Are we not Whif? Nothing a half dozen RATO pods couldn't handle. ;)

Anyway, I looked at this too late to vote AeroNavale, but I think the Deutsche Marine scheme is going to look great.

Thanks Claymore! Unfortunately since the 3rd I've been laid low with a particularly vicious flu - proper flu, not just a cold - and have not only missed time at the bench but at school too. The best thing for me is to rest horizontally, so at the moment the kit remains unstarted.

Progress when my body allows.
