ModelCollect
« on: May 28, 2014, 07:05:31 AM »
A relatively new [to me] company called Modelcollect from the PRC now has a very impressive and nicely detailed 1:72nd scale T-72B with ERA Main Battle Tank (kit number UA72007) available.  Images of the kit parts uploaded to Modelversium.de by Manuel Leyva.

Looks like they do a range of T-72s and the TOS-1 flamethrower rocket system too - nice.

Modelcollect's Facebook page (LINK!) has a lot of CAD renderings of upcoming interesting stuff in 1/72! Interesting if you're interested in Soviet/Russian armour, that is. Apart from just about all marks of MBTs (T-55/62/64/72/80/90 -  :icon_surprised:), they also plan to release a Scud!  8)

Probably as a direct result of Uncle Les' great looking E series tanks Model Collect seems to be offering a stack of options.

Is this for real?  :icon_surprised:

Were sales of the 1:144th scale Ratte that good that a 1:72nd scale kit was justified?

If this is for real, we may very well see a rise in sales for other accessories in that same vein, such as Jodhpurs, riding boots, and whips... :)

Yes it is.

Maybe surround it with these:

Or even add a couple of these to the top:

Now that you mentioned it; yes I see the connection !

Did math:  1/72 hull length = 19.2"     Compare to 1/72 M48 hull (happens to be on desk) which is 3.75"
                               width =   7.7"                                                                                             2"

Different fin arrangement; I'd love to see a laser-guided Trazon, though, for when you really need a penetrating KA-BOOM!

Damn, wrong scale!  ;D

Seriously though, it's pretty cool even in 1/72 scale. For me, I think it would work as a close stand in for the Panther-like walking tanks used by Helvetia in the (sadly under appreciated) anime series Sora no Woto.

As I said to someone who seemed properly upset a company was releasing a 1/32 Fouga Magister (as opposed to what, he didn't say): they can make what they want!

That IS weird though.

1/72 B-2 test build:

Beautiful on the exterior, but they definitely have some of the internals wrong, way wrong and, in some cases, out of position.  A quarter-century after I worked on it and some things still remain clear in my memory.  Additionally, they don't even have the APUs nor the intake doors for them and the doors are easily noticeable when the aircraft is sitting on the ground.
