...The destroyer of Worlds.
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one...

Burns 60%
Falling debris 30

It really happened a long long time ago, in a far far away country.
They misleadingly called it "Little Boy".
And now I will try to recreate, in a smaller scale, the instant that preceeded the detonation.

This is a project thay has been unfinished on my bench for a long time. But the time has come!

The scratching works under way. The scale is roughly 1/70.

And the Warning "Caution Sharp Blade" is to be taken very seriously. Just ask my left thumb :)

Hi Antonio.

Why 1:70 scale and not 1:72?

What did you use for your bomb body?

Aside from the small size it does look like a fairly simply build save for the inner structure of the fin assembly.

Hi guys

Thanks for the interest and comments.

This is just a small vignette that I planned to picture a significant historical moment.
Good or bad, is, as they say about beauty, in the eye of the beholder :)
Please do not read any hidden intent, because this it is definitely not the case!

Having said that, let's proceed.

Why 1/70 scale? Excellent question!
Because what I used to make to body of the bomb was a German rocket (wurfrahmen 40) used on the sdkfz251 stuka zu fuss, from a Tamiya kit.
I measured it and thought it was perfect for the usual 1/72 scale.
Later on, and after doing most of the work, I checked the measurements again, and reached the conclusion that there was a small mistake,
and the correct value would be roughly 1/70. So blame it only on me :)

As for the final assembly, it is indeed a very simple one:

The base is also very simple:

Along with the auxiliary support made with 2 brushes sawed, glued together and bent with some heat.

And the final result will be something like this:

Time for some paint!

Hi Antonio,

Thanks for the clarification on scale.  Makes perfect sense now that you have explained it.  To display the bomb in flight is a clever way to show it off.

Look forward to seeing the end result

Superb concept and a brilliant idea. This would make a great shadow box. You could have it look like you were looking thru the bomb sight. You could support the bomb from below, too and it would look like it was falling .

Your work never ceases to amaze me, Antonio!

The meticulous effort you put in on this project is incredible and the display you've got planned looks like it could be from a period newsreel film.

That's one astonishing a-bomb!

Photographing/presenting this against the black background is a really good idea too since it also adds the appropriate somber/reflective/stark mood to the scenario/event. :)

Hi

Thanks for the comments.

The paint job is done, and the rest is history....literally!

This is the naked truth:

And this is the embelished version,  with some more "artistic" poses:

The last one, trying to capture the atmosphere of that era:

Thanks for watching. Hope you like it!

You not only managed to model the bomb in great detail, but you also captured the mood as well.

This is an incredible demonstration of your skill, Antonio. It's like a history lesson in scale.

WOW!  What they said man!  I feel like it needs to be a black box with a small spotlight on it from above (like in a wall mounted display case in a museum) to really emphasize the mood and power behind it all.  Very good job  8)

Beautiful work ( if you can call an A bomb that) I agree with Cliffy, black box with a spotlight.
