Halloween variation Re: Boeing 727-Be6 flying boat

So, I had this Beriev 6 "Madge" fuselage over :

after having used the wings to fit a whale of the apropriate size in my aircraft/animals hybrids series :
http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4100.msg65199#msg65199

and I wondered how to best use its beautiful hull ... It seemed to be essentially a matter of width of a fuselage to be put on top.

And on the other hand I had this 1/100 B727 from old times East Germany (actually the same brand which originally produced the Be-6, incidentally) :

I planned to use it for a hommage to Alexander Calder's Flying Colours of Branniff fame :

but this was postponed when I discovered that it was just the appropriate size. Given that its three jet intakes are at a height able to discourage questions about spray, I went into cutting and filling and a bit of sanding, and here it comes (in blue) :

wingtip tanks / stabilizers are from some unkown remnants ...

In the meantime, I have realized that this B727 has become rarer than I thought, so the Calder build might get delayed ...

Love this scale-o-rama combination 8)
Be-6 hull bottom is a natural for 727.  Good perception in seeing it :)
Is the 60s-70s and Boeing does flying boats again.

Makes me think of what a relative of the SeaMaster might have looked like in civilian service.

Very nice!

I love this peaceful combination, ending the Cold War into a joint flying-boat-liner... :-*

thank you all!

as I sometime say, I would take it as a pleasure and honor to see people with better modelling skills than me using some of these ideas

This is so wrong, but so cool!

Looks like it could work. My dad flew 727s before he moved on to 757 and 767s.

Hi all,

I know I am a couple of days late, but here is a Halloween variation for aircraft kits, an idea to exhibit them on a spin web :

Uh? This is not "beyond the sprues" but pure Reality, no? ???
Oh yes, I see the difference: here, the trapped ones are not evil mosquitoes (of either colour yes: red, yellow, blue...) with the gentle spider eating them for us, but trapped here are gentle little airplanes our friends that the evil spider will eat, that's a difference...
Congratulations for your imagination! ;)

thanks Tophe!

i haven't thought about the spider yet ... maybe I could make up something using these kits which I have :

but on the other hand I prefer to see these aircraft as just stranded, not necessarily in danger of being eaten up  ;)

That looks great, and very natural too.  :)

One thing that occurs to me looking at it is that you could move the side engines up around the fuselage by 45 deg so that they're even more out of the spray.
