I am a whiff verse fan of the C235/295 because its such a cool looking aircraft but acknowledge that the type has often been found either too large or too small for many real world applications, i.e. other types have often proven a better fit for most customers.
None the less I have often thought an Australian Army Aviation Corps version of the C235 as a Nomad replacement and instead of many of the interim leased types (i.e. King Airs, Twotters etc.) that were employed during the 90s and 2000s would be cool. It could also have been a partial Caribou replacement in Army colours.
-
C295 looks really cool in front view - or banking steeply at low level (happened too quickly to even consider photos).
-
For a second there I thought it wan an Antonov An-140.
-
is that in the running for the RCAF FWSAR replacement?

The thing with C295 ideas and inspirations is Airbus have probably marketed just about every version you could possibly imagine.
AEW, MPA, gunship, just to name a few.

Looks like they're testing two types of stub wing Greg ----
-
Why do you say that?
-
My bad --- one pic looked like it's a different setup to the other, only now I look at it again and I can see it's the same. :-X

The "roundel" on the rear fuselage in the first pic gives me inspiration for an Aussie version in WW2 retro markings. ;)

Makes for an interesting double whiff: What of the RAAF acquired C-295s instead of C-27Js and then what if they painted one up in a commemorative scheme to celebrate the 100th anniversary the forming of the RAAF.
One can get the decals...

The heritage is there too given it is 35SQN (one of the C-47 operators) who now operate the C-27Js and thus would have been the C-295 operator.
