I wouldn't be too surprised to see Tucanos, cropdusters with rockets, or modernised WW2 fighters...

Although there was never an official confirmation, the Fletcher's Defender most likely inspired Yugoslav light attack and close-support aircraft Soko J-20 Kraguj

Second link is from the Yugoslav Aeronautical Museum Belgrade, with some nice but small-res photos (third photo). The last photo with Nazi Germany markings is from the movie ''Partizanska eskadrila'' (english version ''Battle of the Eagles'' 1979. there's an intro if someone's interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G98M1ClXLp8 but it's nothing special). I think that Clave also did some profiles in his great whiff set.

Ditto.
Been thinking how to build a conceptual likeness.

One could possibly use a P-38 as a starting point.

With a Bird Dog or Piper Cub for the canopy. One or two of them could probably provide the wings too.

Maybe something like RWD-6 canopy and wings would do the trick at least for upper set of wings
