Gloster Meteor F.22 (was F.6) Swept Wing
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:08:02 PM »
Folks:

Here are some WIP photos of my Meteor F.22. The base kit is the Xtrakit F.8. Wings are from an AModel Yak-25K (Thank you finsrin aka Bill) and the horizontal stabs from a 1/144 B-47. Landing gear is TBD but they need to tall. Still debating tandem vs tricycle. Also finding two engine wings is not easy. At least within my donor stash.

As you can see it is early days in the build but I have done all the sawing, chopping and sanding to get the basic fit. I know I need add the "realism" for such a radical change to the meek and mild Meteor.  Going from a very thick to a very thin wing is providing some challenges. Still need find places to add more fuel.

Now many of you have provided very positive comments on the conservative F2H-5 (BTW thank you) but as you can see here I have gone off the deep end. Think of it as Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde. Or Jedi vs Siths (yes, my 14 year old has discovered Star Wars so I need watch all 6 Episodes twice).  You're so cute Ani.

I now need to walk the dog. TTYL.

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

First look I saw a Yak 28 Firebar sans pointy nose.
Still very nice

And you are right. The Yak-25/7/8s and Meteor have almost the same fuselage length but the Yaks have a much larger circular fuselage.

This is such a good idea! I vote for Tandem gear, maybe with outriggers.

After much constipation. investigation, deliberation, perspiration, manifestation, transmigration, precipitation, delegation, reciprocation, prevarication, transpiration, revivification, vitrification, stratification, rustication, inspiration and obfuscation, I have the justification and aspiration to go with outboard of the engine landing gear.

I will transmutation the wing to use EE Lightning gear. I have made templates which I will use to carve out the space. I will have to remove the outer wing fence and add a bulge for the wheel. Once that's done, I will locate suitable nose gear.

Time for a celebration.
