I guess this is considered sci fi and not armor so here goes. Yamato 1/48 HAB 0003 T Rex. The company said it was a model kit but had no other explanations so I got one thinking it was an actual plastic model kit like a Bandai Gundam kit. Well, it is not a typical plastic model kit. It does have to be assembled but it comes in 10 pieces which you just snap together. Some parts are molded in a hard rubber type material and some are some sort of plastic. The upper body came already assembled but the legs and arms needed snapping together. The push in connections for the arms snapped almost instantly with no replacement parts included so I had to CA glue the arms on. Not being satisfied with the way it looked I decided to remove the arms and replace them with the Meng 1/35 ZPU-4 14.5mm guns. I put two guns on each side of the mech. Once it warms up here I will eventually paint it in some kind of camo scheme. It will be posed with my other 1/35 what if kits.

Neat!
Looks a bit ED-209-ish. ;)

Interesting, I wonder if it’s from some sort of anime.

A bit of explanation here: http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2009/hab0003_trex (http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2009/hab0003_trex)
Can't find much out there on the designer, Katsumi Minegishi, though

So almost two years later the saga continues. I had almost given up on this thing. The connecting pins are extremely fragile and pretty much every single one snapped. I had to replace them all with metal rods. If you look at the third photo from the top in the original post you will see the broken connecting pins. Even with metal rods in place, it is still pretty fragile. Anyway, this is what I decided on for weapons. The Vulcan guns are from the Academy 1/35 M163 and the gun mounts/housings and antenna mounts are from the Tamiya 1/35 Flakpanzer Gepard. I might add some smoke grenade launchers on top of the mech. The kit came molded in overall olive drab but I will be priming over that and repainting it, one day. Not sure if I will do it another overall color or maybe some sort of camo pattern.

The mech kit says it is 1/48 but I am converting it to 1/35. Here is a 1/35 figure next to it for size comparison.

A dirty, desert scheme might look good - I can imagine one patrolling, with infantry, some middle eastern/african village.
Maybe something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIk94MJS_Sc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIk94MJS_Sc)

Ahhhh, Gatling type weapons.. what is not to like ;)

Overall desert scheme is a good idea but I have a lot of U.S. modern armor that will be in overall sand. Maybe a 3 tone sand camo scheme.

Can't go wrong with gatling guns.

With those guns it will kill everything.

High tech step up from K9 patrol. Though not as stealthy. ;)

Rescaling to 1/35 works well and the Gatlings look good. Maybe add a 40mm grenade launcher for those pesky hard to neutralize spots?

Or maybe some form of urban camp scheme:

Yeah, not very stealthy especially with two 20mm gatling guns on it. It is more suited for anti-tank purposes.

I was trying to fit a secondary weapon to it like an m134 or maybe a .50cal but I couldn't find a spot to fit it. I could always resort to an RWS on top but it would stick up pretty high. I am still looking for possible fitments though.

That urban camo is nice, maybe switch out to grays instead, like on the AMX-30B2 BRENUS. This might be a possibility.

I was thinking maybe a three tone desert camo scheme like on the Leopard 2A7 or SPz Puma.

Maybe something such as the RWS from the T-90:

You can get a 1/35 version from Live Resin:

I actually have one from Live Resin. It sits really high though. I do have a spare AFV M151 which sits a bit lower that I could try.

Here it is with the AFV 1/35 M151 RWS.

Hmmm...I would tend to remove the RWS. I don't think it adds anything.

I agree, that is why I never originally added it. It sits a bit too high but most RWS's sit pretty high anyway. It still needs a secondary weapon but no where to really add one. I think the gatling guns will have to do.
-
How about upside down as a chin mount ?
cheers,
Robin.
-
Yeah, the RWS doesn't help. The 40mm MK19 under the chin, maybe?

I was thinking under the chin as well. I will have to scratch build a mount somehow to fit either the M134 or maybe a Mk.19 grenade launcher.

I was thinking under the chin as well. I will have to scratch build a mount somehow to fit either the M134 or maybe a Mk.19 grenade launcher. There is a FLIR on the front of the mech and there is also a flat area on the bottom of the chin so I might be able to mount something on that flat area. There is something on the FLIR that hangs down that will interfere with the gun barrel so that needs to get trimmed off.

How about an Emerson M28 Series turret (the same as fitted to the original AH-1 Cobra). You can get in 1/48 from CMK if you didn't want an entire helicopter kit:

Great idea! I do have a Monogram/Revell 1/48 AH-1S that was used for spare parts and I still have the chin turret. I will dig it out today and test fit it. Thanks!
-
Thanks to GTX_Admin for the AH-1 Cobra chin turret idea. Here it is with the chin turret installed. I used the Monogram/Revell 1/48 AH-1S chin turret. I cut off the 1/48 20mm gun barrels and replaced it with the Live Resin 1/35 M134 minigun barrels.

looks good! Just the thing for problems too small for the bigger guns. Are you going to add an ammo feed belt?

On the AH-1S Cobra, the ammo is stored in the lower forward fuselage and fed through the ammo feed belt from inside of the fuselage to the gun. You don't see much of the ammo feed belt at all. On the Monogram/Revell kit, the ammo feed belt is molded onto the gun's rotor assembly which runs from inside the turret itself. It is very crudely represented as shown in this photo. Next photo shows the real AH-1F with the M197 20mm cannon. The ammo feed belt isn't shown but you can see where it attaches to.

I do have some 1/48 .50cal ammo feed chutes I could use for the 7.62mm of the M134 minigun in 1/35 to better represent the ammo feed belt. It would be very short though. It's probably better to just keep the molded on ammo feed belt.
